Maybe the offense will get their shit together and it wont even matter. Maples can come in and give up 4 and still finish it out.

Starting to warm up to the DH in both leagues

Maddon is the worst manager in Chicago or he is betting against the Cubs. Willson Contreras is like 1 for 80 as a pinch hitter but he puts him in and then takes the bat out of the hands of one of his clutchest hitters. Killing his closer for the postseason is so Joe Maddon. He panics and makes awful late game decisions.

Its going to be Chavez, Wilson and Sea Shack until the actual closer is ready. Morrow has a sim game i believe and then should be good to go. It would be nice for CJ to remove his head from his ass and start throwing all his pitchers with command. He has closer stuff when he can locate it.

Well his closer is sore armed pussboy Morrow provided courtesy of Theo Epstein

I could not believe he pinch hit for Caratini. He has been one of the few guys hitting and Contreras has been cold as ice and much more likely to strike out, which he did. Then he leaves Strop in to hit with the bases loaded and just one out, after Strop had already pitched 1 2/3 innings. Pinch hit, pad the lead and bring in Rosario. Maybe his worst managed game of the season. They won in spite of him.

I can't get over the pitch Contreras struck out on. 92 mph right down the dick. That ball should be 20 rows deep in the bleachers. How the hell can you swing through that.

Caratini can't hit lefties yet. But he should have PH Zobrist, who was a better choice with 1 out as he's more lIkely to make some kind of run-scoring contact. If the run scored, you let Bote hit and you don't have either Gore or Strop batting the next inning.

I think I'm ready for Girardi.

Girardi is Maddon's bad decision making without the players culture they all seem to love. Girardi is a fucking moron. He lost a playoff game last year by refusing to challenge a play everyone saw was wrong.

Whoever replaces Maddon will be worse and you guys will be running him out of town by year 2.

I get the frustration but Maddon is good overall. He should be here another 2 years, after that he will have run his course.

Maddon needs a bench coach that he can hand over the in game decision making to. I love everything he does that doesn't happen during a game. Let Hickey handle the pitching decisions and get an old coot bench coach that will leave the advanced statistics in the clubhouse.

Aside from his absurd handling of Strop, he also employed his strategy to "get guys going" again and it cost them both times. Contreras and Edwards should not have been in those high leverage spots with their current levels of awfulness.

Also, I dont think TheoJed are going to be hiring a guy like Girardi. They want a guy to keep the clubhouse loose (via penguins or otherwise) and do as the numbers say. Not some dumb jock type who tells his boss to shut the fuck up.

Which is why grandpa rossy is a more likely choice than girardi...if ross wants back in game

A pro athlete can't run 90 feet without getting hurt. Oh my. The whole thing is dumb on so many levels.

Pitchers don't run hard. He tried to beat out the throw at the end and it cost him. The reality is he shouldn't have been in the game.

Not sure it is a great idea for recent ex player to manage ex teammates.

The other thing, and all the Cubs are doing this, he let an easy pitch go right by early in the at bat. These guys are watching way too many pitches go by in the name of taking pitches. Then they end up swinging at crap out of the zone or missing on a pitch with two strikes.

No he shouldn't have. But simply amazing that a pro player can't run 90 feet.

I'd put money that DiCaro could run 90 feet without getting hurt.

That’s bullshit . They run and stretch every day . He gets up and dances like an idiot for Cub home runs at a moments notice but to expect him to be able to even jog 90 feet to first without getting hurt is too much ? He’s a professional athlete for fucks sake .
