Chet's post in the Bears thread got me thinking we could use a new CFMB created list. Seems easier to break it up into tiers.

Tier 1

1. Tom Brady
2. Aaron Rodgers
3. Drew Brees

Tier 2

4. Russell Wilson
5. Phillip Rivers
6. Cam Newton
7. Ben Roethlisberger

Tier 3

8. Carson Wentz
9. Alex Smith
10. Patrick Mahomes
11. Matt Ryan
12. Kirk Cousins
13. Matt Stafford
14. Andrew Luck

Tier 4

15. Jimmy Garoppolo
16. Case Keenum
17. Tyrod Taylor
18. Deshaun Watson
19. Derek Carr
20. Jared Goff
21. Andy Dalton

Tier 5

22. Ryan Fitzpatrick/Winston
23. Dak Prescott
24. Marcus Mariota
25. Joe Flacco
26. Eli Manning
27. Blake Bortles

Tier 6

28. Mitch (Pro Bowl QB) Trubisky
29. Ryan Tannehill
30. Sam Darnold
31. Josh Allen

Tier 7

32. Sam Bradford

Did this off the top of my head in 5-10 minutes so I'm sure it's not entirely representative of where each QB ranks, but it's close. I would have no issues with anyone moving the 4-13th QBs around in whatever order they see fit. Tier 1 and Tier 7 are the only ones Im confident I nailed 100%.

That's a good list you put together. Cam has the talent to be Tier 2, but I'm not sure if he is.

Maybe Fitz needs to be re-evaluated at Tier 5. I'd swap him with bad luck, Luck. He's at least as good as Jimmy G.

Cousins is a Top 5 QB, and based on how long some of you held onto Luck as a top tier QB, I don't expect you to agree any time soon.

Brady, Brees, Rodgers, Wilson are the objective top 4. For a long time Big Ben was in the top 5 but that's over. Who takes his place? Well, probably Wilson to be honest. As Ben has fallen off the last few years Wilson has risen. The last guy in the top 5 could be a lot of different QB's, but really that underlies the problem with the "top 5 QB" label. There are four guys who are absolutely elite who have the ring, stats and tape to prove it. Lumping an arbitrary fifth player into that class right now would be overrating them significantly.

Wentz stays healthy and does what Foles did and he would be there. No doubt. But that's not what happened. He is going to have his opportunity to ascend this year, but if he doesn't I dont think anyone will be able to join that elite company. Maybe Mahomes, but he has yet to face a real defense (Chargers lacked Bosa and Steelers are a disaster) and a big part of being elite is winning in the playoffs, which he obviously hasn't had any opportunity yet to do.

 @ the Jameis thing, and I'm also happy to know I'm not the biggest Cousins hater on the planet. I thought I was undervaluing him a bit.

Eli and Dalton way too high

Mariotta and Winston too low

Also, Brees over Rodgers is downright silly.

It's not silly. It's a good debate. Brees is easily equal to Rodgers as of now.

Rule #1: Never rank black QB's in your Top 10. I had to Google Pat Mahomes mom before I posted this.

Watson is getting a mulligan on his first two games from a lot of people that is simply not being afforded Wilson. This is despite Wilson's track record being years of sustained excellence, including a ring, and his first two mediocre performances coming against the two best pass rushes in the NFL compared to Watson playing a total of like 7 games before this and failing miserably against the hopeless Titans and middling Patriots defenses.

Wilson benefited from a shit load of weapons around him on both sides of the ball. Now that he doesn't have those weapons he is being exposed. Top tier QBs get it done even when they don't have weapons.

Top tier QBs that lose every weapon they have and play behind one of the worst lines in the league don't usually look impressive. See Rodgers two seasons ago for a recent example.

Even if you think that 17 is an absurdly low ranking. There's not really a justifiable case to be made that Dalton is better.

I'm not ignoring the two games but he hasn't been as bad as you're portraying and the o line issues are very real.

Rodgers, Brady and Brees have gotten it done with shitty lines and far less than what Wilson has on offense. Especially in their prime. Lockett, Baldwin and Marshall aren't bums. Rodgers has played better on 1 leg than Wilson plays on 2.

Baldwin is great but currently not playing. Wilson was great last year when he had just that one single weapon. Lockett and Marshall are absolutely bums at this point in their careers.

I dont feel like Wilson ever had great receivers and Baldwin is much more a creation of Russ than Russ a creation of Baldwin.

Stafford never built on that monster 2011 season. I'm not even sure its his fault, the Lions never had a cohesive plan to build around him. That 2012 off-season after he threw for 40+ TD and 5000+ yards was defined by...extending everyone they had already. Now that included Megatron getting huge money but still, that was the year the Bears acquired Brandon Marshall for two 3rds. Could you imagine what Megatron-Marshall would've been like for Detroit? I dont even have to mention specific misses because they just did nothing to get better that year. They went into 2012 with Brandon Pettigrew, Tony Scheffler and Titus Young as their weapons after Megatron. How could they not sense the opportunity they had there? IIRC Stafford rookie deal came before the CBA fixed rookie contracts but he there was still a window there to go hog wild for an off-season or two to make a run.

Stafford with a competent organisation I genuinely believe would go down as elite. Every bit as good as the guys we call elite today. But it didn't work out that way for him.

Baldwin is the goods. If he were a creation of Wilson then Wilson would be able to create another one. Look what Brady, Rodgers and Brees do with whatever you put in front of them.

Carr looks to be playing much better this year, but if he shows any signs of being gunshy, they need to dump him after the season.

Top 15.

Brady's WR corp is so dismal they just traded for a drug addict who hasn't been good in four years, because that guy is a massive improvement over their current lot.

Why doesn't Brady just make Phillip Dorsett and Patterson good? Then they could have kept their draft pick.

He does. He has won with crap most of his career. Top tier QBs make everyone look good. Sometimes Belichick goes to an extreme to test that theory.

You know what I find ridiculous you having Pat Mahomes as a top 10 qb at 3 games started????
