I kinda always thought those Braves teams were kinda chokey.

I'd like more than one.

I would too, and I think we have a good shot at it, but the only person who could talk shit about going to the World Series five times is good dolphin.

Losing that many times would really suck as a fan. I would probably murder Joe Maddon because I'm sure he would be responsible.

Haha, I didn't even catch that.

So anyway, is there any chance Montgomery can close in the postseason?

Close? No. Hell no man.

it was unlikely Morrow was going to return to his role as the closer anytime soon, so I doubt they were counting on that anyway. It would have been nice though if he could have. Just have to hope that Strop will be able to return by the playoffs and be as effective as he had been in the weeks just before his injury. Now they need to get Morrow right for 2019.

You can't count on Strop. Why throw a guy who has been out for weeks into a save situation in the playoffs? You have to find someone else.

Depends on how he throws in the bullpen once he is given the green light to throw again. If everything looks good and he has his command, he's the guy.

Not the same as live action and too much is on the line. He scared me anyway when he was healthy.

Okay, so he scares you. Go get a dog. He's the man if he's healthy.

What about a horse? Those usually are better for baseball.

Maddon is going to be tested now, may have to get creative with the bullpen.

Obviously, the 3 big signings are terrible, but the acquisitions of Cishek, Chavez, De La Rosa and Rosario were great and those guys have covered a ton of innings.

Thankfully, they finally have bullpen depth this year instead of 2.5 guys you can count on. These injuries could be even more devastating.

They have certainly been competitive in a down NL.

The Cubs are maybe the sixth best team in the AL and I am not even sure they are better than the Mariners. Sure, maybe you run through a pathetic NL and god grants you injuries for your opponent again in the WS so that you can eke out a 4-3 series win.

Cubs had to face all 3 team's aces who will all end up in the hall of fame, btw (Bumgarner, Kershaw, Kluber) unlike some other teams who benefited from the AL Cy Young winner and the NL 2nd place finisher getting injured.

Still counts though.

Clemens pitched, as you know.

Injured in the 2nd inning, which was fortunate for the Pales

RPB loves to point out the Sox luck in 2005, yet on the flip side rarely gives the Sox four starting pitchers credit. Three of their four starters essentially pitched like aces all post season. Buehrle was the worst of the bunch and even he wasn't bad.

"Oh the lucky Sox! Graffanino booted a ball!"
"Oh the lucky Sox! AJ got to first on a strikeout!"
"Oh, the lucky Sox! Clemens got hurt!"

What is never mentioned is that after all of those events, the Sox did not lose another game in those series.

Strip is probably our best option, he'll have a fresh arm too in a few weeks.

Their pitching was great.

I only point it out, when your buddy dolphin hilariously tries to do the same to the Cubs of 16.

And yet, you get so defensive about it. The fact is the NL overall was terrible in 2016. The Cubs, being a great team, dominated the league. The Cubs lucked out in that they didn't have to face Bumgarner twice. The Indians were down of their best position players and their best pitcher in the WS, and still took the Cubs to the 10th inning of game 7.

The Cubs won, but everything I listed above is true.

It's amazing that you could write those two posts back to back and not see the hypocrisy.

Btw, Kluber was the Indians best pitcher by far, so you're wrong on that.

And here you are getting defensive about my factual statements.

The AL was way down in 05 (Yanks and Sox down years)
The White Sox missed 2 aces and the third one got hurt in the 2nd inning of his game.
They benefited from a questionable call on a drop third.

The Sox won, but everything I listed above is true.

He's got the attitude, CJ doesn't. He's probably got the best stuff outside CJ and Morrow. Chavez has the attitude not the stuff.

It's really amazing nobody is pounding Theo for this offseason. Lots of bad money spent. The Yu and Morrow signings were bad from the start, in my world. 2 soft and injury prone guys, and in Morrow's case, over used the previous season.

Hard to go at it him when they have been in 1st all year. Once they flame out of the playoffs in the first round, then Theo will take some heat.
