scared the piss out of me when I first saw it

I loved the movie but probably haven't seen it in 20+ years.

Big fan of this movie, although I haven’t seen it in 10-15 years.

the scene where the chick fucks the reptile on the dance floor was beyond the limits of good taste.

i could see how it would be scary back when it came out. But now i dont know if it stands the test of time. a lot of movies are like that.

one thing the movie made me respect is the US Postal service.

I had a chance a long time ago to take a job with the USPS. Now looking back I should have. Job is pretty straight forward, you do it for life, and you get a pension when you retire. And if you started at 18 you retire at 48 which is amazing these days. Maybe only steady job left in America.

It’s a good Rush song on the Permanent Waves lp record.

Great movie. Up there with Angel Heart for late 80s/early 90s thrillers. A thinking man's horror film

i remember lisa bonet's controversy for doing "angel heart". i thought the twist was interesting but remember the movie being a little slow paced. "jacob's ladder" was like a 2-hour nightmare, visually astounding.

"the serpent and the rainbow" reminded me a bit of "angel heart". voodoo seemed a pretty popular plot device at the time.

It's a better Huey Lewis song.

I thought Jacob's Ladder was an excellent movie.

The Serpent and The Rainbow legitimately freaked me out. Very good movie, but...goddamn.

I like how all of these movies have "real" protagonists. Not some chiseled wall of muscle and grit, but for the most part every day dudes. Flawed and fallible.

all of them are kind of noir-ish, and noir films typically had an everyday joe type as the protagonist. so it makes sense.

I remember seeing Angel Heart with my team in high school while we were on a spring trip to St. Louis. I loved the movie. I thought it was only kind of scary but then again, Lisa Bonet nude probably kept my attention through the fear.

Plus I don't think Arnold Schwarzenegger would've worked too well in Mickey Rourke's role, although he might've been an excellent Louis Cyphre....I'll be back--for your soul!

I can now see Arnold playing with a hard boiled egg now.
