And yet, you get so defensive about it. The fact is the NL overall was terrible in 2016. The Cubs, being a great team, dominated the league. The Cubs lucked out in that they didn't have to face Bumgarner twice. The Indians were down of their best position players and their best pitcher in the WS, and still took the Cubs to the 10th inning of game 7.

The Cubs won, but everything I listed above is true.

It's amazing that you could write those two posts back to back and not see the hypocrisy.

Btw, Kluber was the Indians best pitcher by far, so you're wrong on that.

And here you are getting defensive about my factual statements.

The AL was way down in 05 (Yanks and Sox down years)
The White Sox missed 2 aces and the third one got hurt in the 2nd inning of his game.
They benefited from a questionable call on a drop third.

The Sox won, but everything I listed above is true.
The playoffs are a crap shoot and the Cubs had just as good of a chance of winning it that year as any other team.

Not really. If he never faked his injury he was about to get tagged for 12 runs.

The Sox earned every bit of their WS Championship in 2005.
The Cubs earned every bit their 2016 Championship.

Both teams got hot enough at the right time to beat opponents. The Indians were a damn good opponent. The 2005 Astros may not have been as good as the 2016 Indians, but the 2005 Angels and Red Sox were.

This debate is utterly ridiculous.

It's not really a debate though. 11-1 ties the Yanks for the greatest postseason run of all time. It just like a perfect game vs 20K. There is no debate about which is better.

Yup. It also broke the longest city championship drought in American history.

Looks like Theo trying to throw Joe under the bus but sorry bro, this is an indictment on him for signing a sore armed pitcher that cant be depended on to pitch when needed .

*Greatest post season run since the wild card

Cubs was more thrilling, historic, and memorable. Which is nice.

Having to win 11 games to win a World Series is FAR SUPERIOR than having to only win 4 or 8.

Sox had MANY more moments in the WS than the Cubs did. A grand slam, a walk off HR, 14 inning marathon win, a diving catch into the stands. And they did this all in just four games.

That’s probably why the media often forgets about it when mentioning historically great WS teams. Was too short a series .

Right, going 11-1 against the 3rd and 4th best teams in the AL is superior to going undefeated vs. A division and pennant winner. Good call.

11-1 is 11-1. Only two teams have done it, and one of them is the Sox. It sucks that they are the red-headed stepchild, so to speak. If Jeter made the two plays that Uribe did to end a World Series, they would be talked about as two of the greatest catches in MLB history.

And I agree. We shouldn't start the discussion. The grand slam alone trumps just about anything the Cubs did...Ross and Zobrist in Game 7 are the only things that come close. A guy with 0 regular season HRs hitting a walk off HR in the World Series is probably the best moment of any Chicago team in any World Series ever.

There were almost no facts in your last post.

Look, it sucks that no one outside of Sox and Astro fans remember 05, but its not the fault of the Cubs and their historic and much celebrated championship.

2005.

Also, if you haven't noticed, the Cubs title has been pretty much forgotten just as quickly.

Let me know when a major sports network leaves it off a list of Chicago titles.....several times.

The 1976 Reds went undefeated against two teams that would go onto win 3 of the following 4 World Series titles. All but two games were decided 3 or more runs. Exactly zero of the teams the Sox beat in 2005 even made the playoffs the following year.

Hard to say the 1976 Reds isn't the most dominant post season in MLB history, or "greatest postseason run" of all time.

Congratulations on the Sox winning in 2005 though, I'm sure it was enjoyable for you as a Sox fan regardless of the fact that it's not as impressive a post season as the 1976 Reds.

Alright, so you want facts.

-The 2005 White Sox were the first AL team since the 1927 Yankees to lead their division/league wire to wire and sweep the World Series.

-2005 was the first time in MLB history that the starting pitcher of the All Star earned the All Star game win, a post season win, and a post season save.

-2005 was the second time in MLB history that a player had 0 regular season home runs and then hit a post season home run. The first was also a Sox player- Lance Johnson in 1993.

-1962, 1991, 1995, and 2005 are the only World Series that featured clinching games ending with a 1-0 score.

-The White Sox held the Astros scoreless for 15 consecutive innings, a World Series record.

I don't know what the following season has to do with the Sox playoff opponents, but they swept the defending World Series Champions out of the playoffs. And I had totally forgotten that Addison Russell hit a WS slam
