Had to double check who started this thread. I found it interesting that a no is given only if someone else initiated the nod. So technically no one goes out of there way to be cordial unless the other person starts it? I do try and nod at appropriate distance at all times excepting crowding scenarios. Nodding fool in that situation is either a pervert, politician or both.

I said I smile and nod if I make eye contact with someone.

So far, other than the exceptional Nas, folks nod only when nodded too.

Driving by in country side everyone gets a wave. Well, a hand held up. But I’m a head nodder or some form of a nod and a smiler more often than not. Granted, I don’t see as many people as most of you all do.

A guy stopped to let me make a left in front of him onto a side street. I intended to wave, but I was turning the wheel with my left hand and had a coffee cup in my right hand, so I essentially "toasted" him. So now I just do that.

Nice gif. Office etiquette is a different deal. Cheesy grin is used. Bad salute and head nod all work when verbal communication cannot be used for whatever reason.

Grimace + nod acknowledges that life is pain and suffering and boredom--more to be endured than enjoyed.

Smile and nod = Ted Bundy's go-to move to entice victims into his VW bug.

If you don't have a special greeting or handshake with each and every one of your close colleagues, you're a bad coworker.
