And I agree. We shouldn't start the discussion. The grand slam alone trumps just about anything the Cubs did...Ross and Zobrist in Game 7 are the only things that come close. A guy with 0 regular season HRs hitting a walk off HR in the World Series is probably the best moment of any Chicago team in any World Series ever.

While only two teams have gone 11-1, only one team has thrown a World Series.

It's a shame Joe Maddon didn't make that 2 teams.

2005 was definitely more impressive. Coming back from down 3-1 made 2016 a little sweeter.

Props to RPB for entering what he had to know was the losing side of the discussion. He handled himself well but Frank was never really in danger of losing this argument. There's just no good rebuttal for 11-1 and going wire to wire.

I do give credit to the argument that the Sox missed the playoffs in 2006, when they lost 2 less games than the 2017 Cubs in a much tougher division.

In 2005 I said that I would still be happy even if the Sox didn't make the playoffs for 10 to 15 years. I'm still happy about 2005 but some playoff appearances in the next few years wouldn't hurt.

Yup. I'm a firm believer that you only really need one title in your lifetime. Everything else is just fun for a few weeks or months and then it doesn't really matter.

Going wire to wire has nothing to do with the postseason.

Neither does the 2006 records of the Sox 2005 playoff opponents.

Alright, so you want facts.

-The 2005 White Sox were the first AL team since the 1927 Yankees to lead their division/league wire to wire and sweep the World Series.

-2005 was the first time in MLB history that the starting pitcher of the All Star earned the All Star game win, a post season win, and a post season save.

-2005 was the second time in MLB history that a player had 0 regular season home runs and then hit a post season home run. The first was also a Sox player- Lance Johnson in 1993.

-1962, 1991, 1995, and 2005 are the only World Series that featured clinching games ending with a 1-0 score.

-The White Sox held the Astros scoreless for 15 consecutive innings, a World Series record.

I don't know what the following season has to do with the Sox playoff opponents, but they swept the defending World Series Champions out of the playoffs. And I had totally forgotten that Addison Russell hit a WS slam

All that and still forgotten by ESPN on multiple occasions. Ridiculous!

The all star game tidbit is especially nice.

Also props on rhe memory....13 years is a long time.

There isn't even a specific argument. dolphin suggests 2016 Cubs were lucky/fortunate. I point put the luck/good fortune involved in 05 and Frank turns hysterical!

I believe both teams earned it 100% and should be celebrated.

Yep.

And as someone pointed out already this is a ridiculous debate.

But it is always fun to see RPB smack frank around.

What does a tainted title the Sox were given 13 long years ago, have to do with Morrow being done for the season?

In any case, it has nothing to do with anything happening today. That sad sack of monkey crap on the South side has what.....6 straight losing seasons and counting? With no end in sight really either. When the prospects they traded for just get hurt or suck, or at best are unproven at the major league level, saying they will be good again anytime soon is just hopeful blather.

MANY are jealous of the Sox historic run. Maybe one day, Cubs fans will know what its like to have thier team sweep a postseason series.

I don't believe many, if any fans care how many games are played in a championship run. Just that their team comes out on top. The Cubs are in the process of winning their division for the 3rd straight season, will try to get to the NLCS for the 4th straight season and attempt to win another title. When was the last time the Sox won their division in back to back seasons? Made a League Championship series 3 years in a row? Hell, they can't even avoid having a losing season for 6 years straight. The Cubs are on a hell of a run, with no end in sight, with the ballpark reconstruction nearing completion and new revenue streams coming, the team will have the resources to remain on top, while the Sox remain the red headed step-child.

The Cubs swept the 2015 wild card series, it was nice, but eh, not as great as you Sox fans made it out to be.

Yes and they let the only guy to win a game in the NLCS (Arrieta) go. But they have at least made it to the final 4 the past 3 seasons and have the best record in the league once again and will have another shot at a run back to a Championship series. When was the last time the Sox avoided a losing season, much less a league Championship series?

The Sox have avoided MANY Championship series over the last 10 years.
