Whether or not this guy is a scumbag, I think this is kind of bullshit. When her friend revealed the abuse on Instagram and MLB reached out to her, she declined. Now suddenly right before the playoffs she has a moment of clarity and INSTEAD of reaching out to the police or taking legal action, she posts a blog. He should be allowed to play until an investigation happens.

Russell and the Cubs agreed on 3.2M last season to avoid arbitration. He's a consistent .240/.310/.390 hitter (a little less power this year due to his injury) and a good defender. His B-R comps through age 25 has some good players (Gary Carter, Jimmy Rollins) but mostly duds (Dennis Menke, Omar Infante). His overall B-R comps are less forgiving, guys like Marcus Semien and Rey Quinones.

Even if he was a saint and a Mormon and the Roberto Clemente Man of the Year, could you justify anything other than a non-tender this December? Just play Baez at SS and let Bote be the primary reserve at 2B/SS/3B, have a long time vet at AAA as a player-coach at SS in case Baez has to go on the DL, and live with the poor defense at SS the rest of the time.

I hope he enjoys playing in a AAA city like Salt Lake City next year.

Don't disagree. He had a few incredible moments in the 2016 world series and the Cubs need to leave it at that and move on. Being able to trade or release the failure was supposed to be the benefit of having all of these versatile SS. They traded Torres for a World Series, now its time to move on from Russell.

They should have sold high on him after the WS. If he's the piece of shit that he appears to be then the guys that are around him and party with him after games were very aware of it long ago. We don't know what happened between him and his ex. We do know that he can't keep his dick in his pants and from impregnating everything in sight.
