Why do you think that was the case?

Familiarity. No real age difference. They clicked.

McNeil should be solo or with Bernstein. Maybe it would bring some silliness and fun out of Bernstein again.

Some of my disappointment in Parkins is his "IDGAF, I enjoy conflict" radio persona he brought when he was hired to co-host with Spiegel. But he's only brought that attitude when dealing with co-workers.

When it comes time to interviewing team management or discussing any management (GMs/coaches/ownership) he falls in line with the Score policy of a host must be on their knees and slurp.

Also, stop mentioning Kansas City. No one gives a shit. Like when he reached out to a KC offensive lineman to report Khalil Mack is hard to guard. Very insightful stuff! Who knew!?

I dunno about that. The recent Parkins-Spiegel reunion shows were close to unlistenable.

Yeah, no kidding about the KC mentions.

I missed the ground-breaking analysis that Mack is hard to block.

[Big Voice Guy]The Score's Danny Parkins has confirmed via his sources inside the NFL that 2017 Defensive Player of the Year and potential Hall of Famer Khalil Mack is good at football! Stay tuned to 670 The Score for further details![/Big Voice Guy]

Parkins has really been feeling himself during Transition. He is much more dismissive towards Bernstein than before moving to the afternoon slot.

I got out of work about 90 minutes early and spent those 90 minutes stuck in traffic driving out to DuPageLand from downtown, so i had them on for an extended period for the first time since Mac got back from cottage.

The tension to me is that they both like football, but they disagree about it. From February through July, it doesn't matter. But from the heart of pre-season through the Super Bowl, it does.

Mac was perfectly happy letting Parkins drive the show during non-football season. He's still willing to let Parkins drive... but not as much during football season. Today after Parkins criticized Mac's smoking habit and how he's intending on smoking in Mitch's car on the way to the Ball State-ND tilt, Mac cracked something to the effect about "how about a break soon so I can go smoke one of those..." And Mac made a comment about wanting the statute of limitations for hating Penn State's football players and coaches to end, and Parkins had a sideswipy "I still want the fans to be miserable" type of crack as he went to break.

I have a friend like this - she lets her husband make probably 19 of every 20 decisions. But fuck him if he tries to make a different decision on that 20th one than what she wants.

That's Mac and football.

I just don't hear the tension when I listen. Like today when it came to football they disagreed about Matt Ryan and it was clear they disagreed on him. But then that disagreement became good fodder for jokes the rest of the show.

I think they get along well and like working with each other.

I was a bit weirded out by the Parkins description of going to the Billy Joel Concert with his mother. "I'll have a couple of beers, she'll have a couple of white wines..." I was waiting for, "and then we'll go back to my place..."

As for the topic of this thread, Parkins is an arrogant s.o.b. From time to time, it seems obvious that he feels he's the only person who is capable of thinking through various sports topics rationally. However, he is still a much better listen than anyone on that station with the exception of McNeal and Bernstein.

Agree.. These guys are clueless. They get along great, they're buddies and breaking each others balls.. I like the sarcasm and ball busting..solid show

Parkins goes crazy when callers don't put 100 percent faith in management or coaches like he does.

Parkins and Bernstein are similar in that they always have their ears perked up and waiting to pounce on anything their far left sensibilities deem out of bounds. That's a miserable way to live life and it's awful to listen to. Parkins is almost worse because he is a fairly good representation of why you wouldnt want to listen to a millenial. At times you can sense Mac wanting to challenge it but so far he has mostly backed down. I dont think that will last forever.

Parkins worst possible Fall is Nagy being clueless and the Cubs collapsing at the same time.

Challenging his millenial-ness....ok.
Challenging his far left sensibilities.....no. Mac is pretty far left so not much to challenge there.

I don't mind him, or the pairing, but for the love of God will someone explain to me who thought Steve Trachsel, or a wild card team of 20 years ago needs to be mentioned, much less celebrated?

Or more discussion about Rush?

Mac has talked a lot about it lately. He said for a team that has a history of celebrating losers you'd think they'd do something for the 20 year anniversary of a team that actually made the playoffs. Correctly (imho) pointing out they don't want to acknowledge the fact Sammy Sosa ever existed, which is an interesting topic in itself.

I was in on the Parkins bandwagon early and I still like him but he has got to stop licking the assholes of Maddon, Theo and Pace. Maddon could trot out a starting lineup of all pitchers and he'd find a way to spin it as a positive.

Decastro's "talking more sports" has sure gone away. Breaking news: Domestic violence is bad, lets talk about it all day.
To be fair maybe they didnt, but I listened to transition and turned to 1000, where they were talking same thing, but then got away from it .

Though I did hear the funniest commercial ever, "Come meet Connor McKnight" at some place in the burbs. Will he have pic and sharpie for autographs

Agreed, I still think he's a net positive. But his millennial "analytical fan" side is really to dominate the show. I tend to agree with the concepts but the smarminess and know-it-all attitude that these types exude on twitter and articles is a giant turn-off.

Also, I hate to keep reiterating but stop talking Kansas City.

I have cooled on him somewhat over the last couple months. Since his promotion, he has become much more authoritative and less self-demeaning which is a trait I always appreciate even if I suspect it's fake.

M&P had Allen Robinson on for his weekly visit. Parkins did the same thing to him he does to Almora. He tries to turn the interview into an interrogation. He wanted Robinson to name the biggest trash talkers by name he goes against. Robinson said he couldn't think of any to sidestep the question and avoid a controversy. Robinson then seemed very uncomfortable the rest of the segment. Mac snickered continuously I have to believe on Parkins poor interview skills. Robinson is very bright and we'll spoken. It would be a better segment if Mac handled it.

Today while discussing (Pro Bowl QB) Trubisky's underwhelming performance to date, Parkins said Bears fans would be okay with (Pro Bowl QB) Trubisky being demonstrably worse than Watson and Mahomes if he has a carerr like Eli Manning (drafted ahead of Rivers and Roethlisberger, statistically worse than both, but winner of two SB). I don't think Mitch lasts long enough to have that chance.
