He just couldn't find an agent who could rock with him.

He didn't want to pay the 10%. I get that. He's only recently been a full time radio talker. So he didn't have a lot of money and figured I'm not giving 10% to a cracker ass agent. He figured he could do this shit on his own. Terry Boers never had an agent as well. Worked out great for Boers. 25 years in radio getting his contracts without the 10%. Nice.

But Goff is a dumb ass. And it cost him 10 months of salary. Probably at least 80k. Maybe a little more.

I would have done the same as Goff if I were early in my career as full time sports talker. But I would have studied the fine print. Goff didn't do that. He had no idea that his contract was 30 days at a time. And the SCORE knew he was a sucker. Had he asked for better then that, he would have gotten it. That's what an agent would have got for him.

Even without an agent, he could have had a conversation with his mentor, Dan Bernstein. Bernstein would have helped him. But Goff never read the contract. Had he done so, the conversation would have went like this...

Goff: Hey Bernstein, do you have this 30 day shit in your contract.

Bernstein: No. My agent immediately said no dice to that.

Goff: Why does my ass have it?

Bernstein: Well, probably because you don't have an agent. Also, because you're black and they think they can take advantage of you.

Goff: Mother fucker!!!!

Bernstein: Did you sign it?

Goff: Yeah.

Bernstein: Oy.

Goff: Mother Fucker. That's alright. They ain't never gonna fire my ass anyway. So it won't matter.

And Drinky too. That dumbass. The problem with him is he's too dumb to study the fine print. He definitely didn't do that. The SCORE knew he was a sucker, just like Goff. And this was before the epic Drinky JDC beef. He could have got more but he burned too many bridges with Mitch. Too bad he never thought of that when he started picking petty fights. Because he's a dumbass.

Jason the jokeman Martling was too cheap to hire someone to look at his contract before signing?

It is kind of funny that he was bragging about how he was going to keep getting paid after he got fired. Oops, he forgot to read his contract.

If you are implying that someone would do it for free, no one is doing pro bono work on a 100K+ contract. You make money, I make money.

Goff is like the little old lady who shows up the free legal clinic for someone to work on her will with million dollar estate

Besides, Dan would be the last guy to use family for negotiations. I believe that like many in Chicago radio, he uses Todd Musburger.

To be fair to Goff and the like, why do they need agents and do agents really want them as clients do to the small pay scale. Say he makes 200K, I assume an agent maybe makes a few percent or even basis points off that contract?

Now National guys or guys like Kap I could see. Not just toward Goff, it would be anyone making the money these guys make.

Why? So that the corporation across the table from you, who is most definitely represented by a lawyer doesn’t stick some fair but onerous language in its contract offer

Say they make 5% of their clients earnings. If it is nothing more than contract negotiation that is 5k for under 10 hours of work, which justifies almost all lawyers rates. Then you have your foot in the door at the shop where one client usually begats more

I just read that interview for the first time. Man does that guy have an unjustified level of ego. I like Goff a lot. I always have. His post firing thoughts have made him less likable

I think it is time to throw away the Larry bingo card and start a Goff one. Every interview includes references to newborn son, fiancée, hip, first at something, etc

Goff has never understood that at 38 he ain’t young in his industry. The greats all had big careers by that age and were winding down by mid 50s

Kap does a lot of stuff for NBC Sports and I believe he comes with a Lou Malnati's account attached to him. I doubt he's working for pennies.

I’m sure he does fine overall...he’ll take every job offered. But I don’t think he draws large $ from any particular backers as nobody would notice if he was replaced.

I know right? I liked him a lot too. The boring kid talk was a near daily occurrence on the program. The arrogance towards people who think differently became constant. Then throw in SJW stuff and he became unrecognizable. He was such a good B&B foil, but he lost that magic as a full time host.

I didn’t notice those things when he was in middays either.

I’m betting his CSN salary is 250k-300k plus . Guessing the radio gig is 150 to 250.
