I've gone on a ticket buying rampage recently.

Atmosphere - April 23

Bouncing Souls - May 1

Cursive - June 27

Pitchfork - July 13-15

Sadly, I dragged ass and did not get a ticket to any of the Local H shows at the Beat Kitchen, which I know Frank is going to. Doug will be at Cursive with me. Will any of you other fine folks be at any of these shows? I'll buy you a pop or 6.

I will likely be at the Pitchfork Festival.

Also going to see the New Pornographers and Okervil River on April 20th and the Bottle Rockets on May 13th.

Bouncing Souls was unbelievably fun last night. Semi-acoustic "Night On Earth" as a closer was one of the best things I've ever witnessed at a show.

How are you semi-acoustic?

one acoustic guitar on stage is semi-acoustic....

i'll be at Cursive.

I'll likely be having people over on June 28th, if anyone is interested.
I ususally throw a party the last Saturday of June.
Plus, I'll be 33 on the 29th...so, just another reason to drink beer.

Started out the song only acoustic, and then eventually the rest of the band joined in.

Looks like I will be attending PitchFork for at least the Saturday show, but likely will be there all weekend. I fell in love with The Hold Steady and can't wait to hear their new stuff. I'm curious to know what the scene looks like for this show. Show I go with an Emo look?

The Hold Steady are a blast live. Craig Finn is always just so happy. Granted, The Hold Steady are without a doubt the WHITEST BAND IN THE HISTORY OF TIME.

And dress however the fuck you wanna dress. Trying to make some sort of fashion statement at a show is a ridiculous notion. But that won't stop me from making fun of you if you're wearing the shirt of the band you're seeing.

I can't wait to see them. Even if they are the whitest band of all time.

Also, you bring up an interesting point of discussion. I was explaining to my lovely wife that you cannot wear the shirt of the band you are going to see. She disagreed and said it was okay to wear the current tour shirt. Have I missed an exception to the rule? The only time I broke this rule was at a Pearl jam concert at Alpine. If I remember right, someone puked on my shirt so I bought a PJ soccer jersey.

The steps for an Indie Rock look:

The first thing you should do is alter your bathing habits. By no means does that mean you should develop a complete disregard for hygiene, but you might want to cut back on the frequency with which you wash your hair. The "bedhead" look is too obvious, but a modified bedhead with a greasy sheen to it will have you blending right in with the crowd at the indie rock show.

Next, think about your shirtwear. An old undersized T-shirt is a safe bet, but it should be some vibrant color - green, orange, and yellow are all good choices - never white or black. White is gauche, and black is too glamorous, too L.A. Generally speaking, the shirt should look like something you would find at a thrift store, but it shouldn't look like you bought it at a thrift store.

Got a nice car? Good. Lose it. If you want to be indie rock you can't drive a car that has fewer than 100,000 miles on the odometer and had an original sticker price of more than $20K. As a rule, money is antithetical to indie rock. Unless you are Matt Groening, it's hard to make piles of cash when you are a clever cynic (as most indie rockers like to think of themselves).

No exceptions. In fact, the rules are even more strict. No wearing the shirt you bought at the show the day immediately after the show, and no wearing shirts of previous bands to shows either, i.e. no Nirvana tshirts at Foo Fighters shows.

Now you're just making shit up, Stink.
I see bands wear shirts of other bands while on stage all the time, and just read something about Eddie Vedders "lucky" Butthole Surfers T that he wore during the first PJ show.

Anyway, I'm worried about you.
The revelations about the well groomed mangina & all this fashion advice makes the playoff neck beard seem like you're overcompensating

I make no arguments that I need professional assistance, but you missed the point of what I was saying. While I would personally never choose to do so, wearing the shirt of another band at a concert is within the rules (albeit borderline), the point at which the line is crossed is when wearing a shirt of a band that any member has previously been in. So Eddie Vedder, or anyone in attendance at a Pearl Jam show can have his or her precious Butthole Surfers tshirt (although that thought probably makes Gibby Haynes roll over in his grave), but the fanboys don't get to wear any Temple of The Dog, Mother Love Bone, or now that Matt Cameron is with the band, Soundgarden tshirts.

I did miss your point about the band's members previous bands - that's a more reasonable guideline (although still fuzzy).

What's your ruling on wearing a Soundgarden shirt to a RATM reunion show? It may set ZDLR off and cause an Axl like tantrum - which could be worth it.

That would be fine, because there's more than one degree of separation. While they were in a band with a former Soundgarden member, Tim Cummerford, Brad Wilk, and Tom Morello were never themselves in Soundgarden.

As a side note, Tom Morello has a cameo in Iron Man as "Insurgent #5", so no Iron Man tshirts.
