They’ll be lucky to win 1 vs Pitt.

Stl will be coming in no non sense as well.

If they miss the division blame yourselves boys.

Hard to see how they don't at this point. The Brewers look like the best team in the league.

This is no time to panic. The brewers pretty much have to win out for the cubs to lose

ya if the brewers win this division they deserve it.

if we play that 1 game playoff, chances are we're fucking done because we're only going to score 1 run in that game.

What a steaming pile of horseshit.

Fuck Contreras. Can't call a fucking game, can't frame a fucking pitch, can't set up like a normal god damn catcher which makes the pitchers extremely uncomfortable and wild and he can't fucking hit.

They look as if there is no offensive plan at all.

On the last day of a road trip, the day after a doubleheader or an early day game many teams will show and go. No early work, no conditioning, optional BP...they literally show and go. Generally in those games you either mash for 10 runs or you do absolutely nothing and score 0 or 1. Thats exactly what this team looks like recently. Its as if Joe did his little dog days of august American Legion week crap for literally the entire last 8 weeks. The plate vision for most of these guys has been atrocious the 2nd half of this year.

If you're going to go out like this then just die already. No one wants to watch this half ass bullshit.

Stop being so dramatic. They are likely to sew up a playoff spot tonigh even as they lose.

Neck, dead on. A friend called me up the other day and said the Cubs are looking good. I told him this is one of the most frustrating teams. Their entire approach at the plate is just crap. They watch so many good pitches go by. You’re not breaking out of a slump by working a walk.

Hard to believe how bad they look at times for a first place team.

For a team that wants to win the division, the last 2 nights have been heartless. So far, 1 run score, from the fucking pitcher. They look worse than they did before the valued off day. I don't think they have hit a ball hard yet tonight.

This is like the 8th or 9th offensive slump this year.

After the season Joe will keep his job but Chili Davis will be gone.

I was thinking even if they make it in the playoffs, what are their realistic chances in making it to the WS.

We all say the NL is wide open and nobody is a great team this year but realistically, I guess you'd still see this dead ass offense struggling to score 1 run a game.

Everyone in the NL is playing better who is in contention. So if they host the WC game, they're going to probably get rolled in that one too.

2004 was a shit team. It was hr or nothing w/ them. this team is better, that's why this collapse is even worse.

Been thinking about Chili Davis too. These guys don't hit for power anymore. The only thing that changed was him coming in. I can't see him sticking around.

Imagine if you had to try and explain the Cubs offense to someone that is say a fan of a team they are going to play. What would you say? They've scored alot of runs and are in first place but what do they do well? All ive got is that when they walk and get hits they tend to go 1st to 3rd alot and that lets them string a few runs together. There is zero continuity from day to day or from at bat to at bat. Its as if situational hitting does not exist.

Lets take this current AB for example. You have 2 runners on, a pitcher you have seen all fucking night and you watch 2 straight fastballs for strikes to start the AB. Now he is going to throw you shit out of the zone until you strikeout....which if it doesnt end up swinging will be looking at one on the border. And there it is. Another awful at bat culminating in a strikeout with 2 runners on.

Hell of a night by Schwarber, wtf. Hanging slider that should be murdered, he misses by a mile. 3 k's, and several men left on base. I don't need to see La Stella anymore either, he's been brutal as well.

Good Dolphin calming the water.....didn't expect that. You are exactly right GD. They are gonna be in the playoffs and if they have to go via the wild card, will likely be hosting it. Not worthy of all the hand wringing going on. The sun will come up tomorrow. If they win the World Series again, nobody will give a shit whether or not they won their division. They will have their shot at it.

they are still 2 games up in the loss column. The Brewers were half game out 2 weeks ago. and what happened? Cubs went on a tear to distance themselves.

Ebb and flow. Cubs will win the division.

By the way, Pirates have been playing real good and people forget they are an over .500 team.

Wow! Possibly the Cubs could play Tuesday in the WC game? Who'da thunk it? We'll never know Joe's exact contribution to this sour end with his ever changing batting order, pulling starters early, putting bum relievers in crucial spots of the game. It'll be more of the same if it's a wild card game possibly using 6-8 pitchers with a solid starting performance ending abruptly.

What a weekend/week not only the Cubs but "Big Game" james Shields nearing the end of his Sox run with a near 5 1/2 Sox era getting praised in the tribune for hitting the 200 innings mark. Also the fickle bears fans crucifying Mitch and Nagy so early in their Bears careers.

EYE was the first person to praise him for the 200 innings, on this board. Fuck you for not paying attention and fuck the Trib.

The Cubs and Brewers could end the season tied and have a tie breaker Monday. Yikes. Joe will totally wipe out the pitching staff. Not going to have the extra call up bums.
