Yes, Cousins played like horrible shit and (Pro Bowl QB) Trubisky is almost as bad as Cousins was. The Bears have at least made it past midfield though.

Let me know when Mitch throws for 385 yards, rushes for 36 yards, and throws for two TDs. I’ll make sure to point out he wasn’t good. That seems to be the standard I guess.

Mitch might be the worst QB in the league, Where is Baker?

Garappolo officially done for the year and OFF the QB rankings. See ya next year (probably at like 20).

Josh Rosen named Week 4 starter. Bradford's off the list now too (unless SF is dumb enough to trade something for him)

OUT- Sam Bradford, Tyrod Taylor
IN- Baker Mayfield, Josh Rosen

Top 10 stays almost exactly the same. Cousins gets a mulligan for Buffalo, another performance like that though and he'll drop. Wentz shows he's a little rusty but still closer than most QB's are to the elite level. Mahomes graduates one level with chance for mega helium a week from tonight if he does it again @DEN, a quality road performance would answer a lot of the questions we have left. OVERHYPED YOUTH gets changed to CLINGING TO RELEVANCE and right away finds some apt members. Chaos in the bottom 3rd, which will likely be the story all year. Jimmy Garappolo gets ceremonial final rank at 22 because I dont know who else to put for San Francisco.

A simpler ranking... we have at least 3 HOF QBs active right now, and really if anyone argues this, they lose a lot of credibility IMHO. Of course, the young guys time will tell (if Mahomes goes 54 TDs and 0 INTs every year, he's probably going to get in.) But of the more established guys, who do you think has a shot?? I think really there are 2 candidates (maybe 3) -- I can see all 3 getting in their team's "Ring Of Honor," but HOF is a little bit tougher.

There are 4 definite HOFers and 4 possible the way the voters are.

Only two players have a chance at getting into the GOATS category this year: Russell Wilson could feasibly carry Seattle to a title and that would move him into that group, or Mahomes could have an all-timer season punctuated by a ring. I dont see either happening. I do see a world where both eventually get to that category but that takes a long time and a ton can go wrong. Wilson could have a monster year or get another ring to get there. Mahomes has played three games and is about to face his first real quality defensive opponent. I have feeling Brady will drop out before someone else ascends.

I do not think Brady/Rodgers/Brees are winning the title this year, so there's an opportunity for either one of NOT-QUITE-ELITE (YET?) or OBJECTIVELY GOOD guys to jump to the ELITE class. Or a defense just hulks out and does what last year's Eagles or the 2015 Broncos did.

I think Cam is basically a lock for the HOF barring career ending injury in the next couple years.

Locks: Brady, Brees, Rodgers, Big Ben
Probable: Wilson, Newton, Rivers, Manning (before anyone jumps on this he will get in because he won 2 SBs beating Brady, I don’t care if it was the D, voters don’t care either)

Rivers isn’t getting in without a ring. You can’t put 8-10 guys from the same era playing the same position in the Hall.

He needs another 6-7 years or so of the same level of production. Can't afford anymore 2016 years.

I would be a little surprised if he got in or Eli did... I think they are looking for reasons to exclude QBs at this point because there are so damn many that end up in there relative to other positions.

By the time he retires his rushing stats are going to get him in quite easily. His 57 rushing TDs are 2nd in the entire NFL among all players since he came into the league. That’s nuts.

Yup. I don’t think Eli’s getting in.

Sure you can. That’s all anyone wants to see. Especially with the death of RB as a HOF category.

I don’t know where you’re getting this from. This isn’t the basketball HOF where every good player gets in. You’re crazy if you think we’re currently watching 8 HOF QBs.

4 definite, 4 probable. Not all first ballot and they aren’t all going to retire at once, but it will happen.

I'm glad Barnwell wrote about this. Was just talking to a buddy of mine about this during last week's games. Was thinking the Jaguars and Rams can try this.

What would Mahomes get right now? I feel like basically everything that can be traded would be traded. How far in advance can you trade away picks?

Yeah I think Mahomes gets you the biggest return in NFL history right now.

But that may not be the case three years from now. Following the strategy outlined in the article, you would trade him after a couple years, not right now.

People overreact to flash in the pan QBs all the time, and teams are desperate for a solid QB. I bet Mahomes would get you a pair of first round picks. Not saying he will fizzle out, but it's only been three games.

Right.

If the Raiders right now offered the two firsts they got for Mack, their own two firsts in 2019/20 plus Derek Carr...do you make that deal as KC? There was once upon a time Carr was Mahomes-esque in his hype. Maybe not the same level of hysteria, but at least the same type of "Future at the Position" rhetoric. Now? Carr aint shit. Ho-hum middle third QB making an assload of money. If it means getting 6 first rounds picks the next two years (including what they have already) in exchange for what easily could be Mahome's future self do you do it? Especially when by the time it comes time to extend Mahomes Carr's deal may look like a bargain?

And even if Mahomes is elite what does that get you? Maybe a shot at a title? Rodgers has one, Brees has one, Wilson has one and Manning got two (the second he was just along for the ride).

Its crazy to think about, but ultimately it will never happen. Kansas City is infatuated with Mahomes for what will prove to be years. Even if he is never this good again, even if he becomes BAD, they will cling to these three weeks as "what he can be" and never give up on him. Just like the Bears with Cutler. Teams just find themselves married to guys and I dont see that ever changing.

You know, the more I think about it, if I were the Raiders I would make that deal. And if I were KC I'd also make that deal. I think its a huge win-win. Carr with those weapons can at least shadow Mahomes success and all those drafts picks...KC could build a monster defense out of thin air.

Mahomes may drag the Raiders to a mediocre finish this year, but they slowly build around him and maybe catch fire one season.
