I don't like a shit kicker in Chicago, especially a cry baby clown who ran the franchise into the ground as GM.

"COME ON, TIMO! COME ON, TIMO!, COME ON, TIMO!"

I understand all of the criticism thrown at Hawk. I understand why many didn't like him. The l.ast 5 years or so wore thin fo rme....his crying and homerism for awful teams was pretty tough for me to stomach. I will say...the leaving the booth to check on Todd Frazier was just great "fun-bad". I can now just remember the fun year of Hawk.

The supporters that say enjoy your vanilla stat reading broadcasters going forward....they are also correct. I'd be fine with Benetti, but they have to find someone with some character to compliment him.

Hawk was great.

That was a weird terrible way to go out though.

I've said it a million times but it rubs me the wrong way that a southerner who played for the Red Sox and A's is supposed to be some kind of Chicago baseball legend. He's not from here and he never played here. It makes all his homerism ring hollow. Go on Youtube and you can find Yankees games from the late '80s where there's a familiar voice doing familiar shtick but for them. Like, Mike Shannon is just as bad as any bad baseball broadcaster's been, if not worse, but he grew up in St. Louis and played for the Cardinals, he's never been anywhere else, so if nothing else, I get it. I don't get Hawk.

You never would get Hawk. He has a personality.

whoah whoah whoah whoah, what the hell is TMJ?

I thought u said he worked under Ueker. That would mean he broadcasted Brewer baseball.

I believe he did the role with the Brewers that was most similar to what ZZ has now with the Cubs - pre/post, scores in game, the occasional inning here and there. I don't remember if he was TV or radio there.

Never knew that but it all makes sense now.

I always wondered why he didnt quite fit the mold of an east coast guy. And he sounds like a typical Wisconsinite. Sorta one of those things I subconciously always noticed but never really knew it for sure.

Funny how our 2 play by play guys are Wisconsin guys. Both laid back voices in a big city.

I think he's from northern Michigan, but he went to school in Milwaukee and got his start in radio there. Pat's from out west and has mentioned growing up listening to the old Giants guys, though of course there's a lot of Uecker in his style.

Yeah, I think he just filled in for Powell or Vasgersian here and there. I think he was also at WISN for a while but just as a reporter or something.

No, Vasgersian did Brewers TV in the late '90s, I think that was his first gig.
