Finally got around to watching this and finished S1 tonight.
There's no way the next 3 seasons can match how amazing this first one was, is there?

never finished season 3. i liked season 2 slightly better than 1 just because i'm a huge patrick wilson fan. but season 1 was probably better overall.

They will be making a season 4 and Chris Rock will be one of the stars.... Not exactly a spoiler but a light look forward... sounds interesting....
As for the series thus far, season 3 was a step behind the first two but it has been solid overall. The first two seasons are excellent.

Season 4.

Series EP Warren Littlefield told Deadline back in June that they have a city and year for season 4, and as unveiled today that’s 1950, Kansas City, Missouri. Littlefield also told us that season 4 would go into production during fall 2019.

Essentially the locale will serve as the crossroads and collisions of two migrations, Italians coming from Italy and African Americans fleeing the south to escape Jim Crow, both fighting for a piece of the American dream as two controlling crime syndicates. They are at an uneasy peace controlling an alternate economy of exploitation, graft and drugs. To cement their peace, the heads of both families have traded their eldest sons.
Rock’s character in order to prosper has surrendered his oldest boy to his enemy, and who must in turn raise his son’s enemy as his own. Then the head of the Kansas City mafia goes into the hospital for routine surgery and dies. And everything changes.

Season 1 is legendary, one of the all-time great TV shows as far as I’m concerned. Season 2 was great maybe halfway through, but then it really petered out (they should have kept Dodd alive through the final episode, he was far and away the show’s greatest asset). Season 3 appears to be underrated if the comments in this thread are any indication - David Thewlis was brilliant.

I revisited Season 1 a few months back, and when I was finished, I just threw it on again. It’s just that good.
