Hey there Sparkles, thanks for the call. The great Mackeyfish himself, Dan McNeil told me one afternoon that Elmhurst Steve always...always brings the goods, and he may be on to something. ElmSte, great caller, awesome guy. Thought about taking him out to Harry's one day to hang with Frankie O and I when Billy comes to town. Always look forward from hearing from good ol' Elmhurst Steverino. Got some stuff from some new sponsors to get out to him...sending him some Mane 'n Tail and maybe a snuggie for his little lady.

Anyway...let's get Hawaii here a gift card to Lou's and a MyPillow 2.0 for his trouble today...great questions.

Back to the phones.

Yes that was me on Kap's show. I call into his show pretty regularly. I have on several occasions been critical of Maddon, particularly the way he handles the bullpen. He has abused the bullpen arms. He is directly responsible for Strop's injury ( he should never have batted as he had already pitched 1 2/3 innings.....yet stupidly, Maddon intended to bat him and then pitch him in yet another inning) as well as the decline in performance of Cishek and Edwards due to overuse early in the season. Theo put a great bullpen together. But Maddon abused Brandon Morrow early and used him3 days in a row, which caused him to eventually be shut down for the season. He did this even after it was made clear NEVER to use Morrow more than 2 days in a row. He pulls starters over and over too early. I would love to see Maddon fired and Joe Girardi hired as the manager. Because of Maddon's abuse of the bullpen, it is not in peak form heading into the most important point of the season. Instead, it is in tatters and more likely to fail.

It used to be that if there was a tie between 2 teams, the tie breaker was head to head records for the division, with the other being the wild card team. But when a 2nd wild card team was added to the mix, the rules changed and now a tie breaking game would be required. I guess it makes sense in that the wild card team is no longer assured of playing in a series and to perhaps be eliminated after a single game, despite having the best record (tied for) in a division, seems wrong.

wow cool that was you! it's weird, i just randomly tuned in on my phone and they said 'Elmhurst Steve', not Steve from Elmhurst so thought it could have been you.

One thing I did notice, your voice is very old. I guess your font/typing here comes off as younger. I thought you're like a guy in your late 20s to mid 30s, but your voice made you sound much much older.

They always say Elmhurst Steve on ESPN and I call into one of the shows (or more) pretty much every week and have been doing so since each station has been broadcasting. Even got a chance to guest host on ESPN back when Adam Delevit was a producer and they chose 2 listeners to guest host for a day and I was one of the 2 chosen. Got to interview Coach Kennedy of DePaul at the time as well as discussing everything going on in sports at the time. Unfortunately, it was in the winter, so Baseball was not really in the mix.

Over the years I have given some board members plenty of reasons to dislike me. A fair amount of the time, I was trolling them, but sometimes the posts were just me expressing honest opinions that some definitely did not agree with. I go to spring training in Arizona, take other trips and go to lots of Cub games and live in Winnetka, so I think some might be jealous that I get to do things they might not be able to do and resent that. Plus, I hate the White Sox and revel in their ineptitude almost as much as I enjoy the Cubs success and back when the Cubs were tanking, I know that I didn't enjoy how some people celebrated their lousy play back then. So if some resent me for celebrating both the Cubs success and Sox being bad.....I get it and accept it readily and have no intention of changing anything. I like things just as they are just fine.

By the way......this is in the wrong section Mods. It should be in general discussion. As much as I love Baseball and the Cubs are my team, to have this thread in the Cubs section doesn't really make sense.

Elmhurst Steve - what do you think of each station. I really like am1000 when it comes to cubs coverage. It’s like they’re the flagship. They are more passionate and talk more cubs than the score. I enjoy Jesse Rogers too. And of course they got Murph.

Score talks Cubs like an afterthought.

What do you think?

It is ironic that the flagship station for the Cubs does not focus on the team more. When they do lately, it's hosts being focused on the problems Addison Russell is having due to Domestic Abuse or the Manager not being more involved with that issue and his player, who is currently on administrative leave. You would think it might be more about the team trying to retain their division crown and the way the team looks heading into the post-season. I like ESPN's coverage of the team, particularly Kap's show, as Baseball is his favorite sport and the Cubs his favorite team, it is no surprise he covers them so well. Silvy is a huge Cubs fan and does a great job covering the team too. Jesse has made a spectacular rise in the business, from a Mike North Lackey to a guy who does an exceptional job today as a baseball (Cubs) guy. I do like Bruce Levine, though I think he tends to be a apologist for management at times. Dan McNeil is my favorite Score host, but he is a Sox fan and really loves football much more than baseball, so I will likely tune into the Score more after the Baseball season is over. Danny Parkins in all fairness does a good job covering baseball.

Just tuned into am1000 and they got sutclifffe as their cubs expert.

Score has cubs post game but Zach zaidman is just doing replays. I guess no Ryno today.

I agree am 1000 is great w cubs/baseball talk.

Sut has some great stories and the relationship with Silvy is really good. I wish the games were broadcast on ESPN, with Kap's pre and post game broadcasts also airing on the radio broadcasts. The Score has benefitted greatly from the games being broadcast on their station, yet have failed to capitalize on it, to the extent they could.
