So many years we would love to be in the position we are in as fans now.....the Cubs up a game with 3 games left. But now it's not enough to have the best record in the league and already qualified for the playoffs. These are great times to be a Cubs fans and despite all the injuries they are atop the league. Pretty sweet. Now, beating the redbirds and eliminating them from the playoffs and at the same time winning the division.......that would be real sweet. Hendricks going tomorrow VS Wainwright. It should be a good one.

I don't see the Cardinals losing 6 straight to end the season.
Given that it's Detroit, I can see the Brewers winning 7 straight to end the season, if they can get through Davies' start tomorrow night.
Baseball Prospectus has both Cubs and Brewers winning 2 of 3.
The sports books have the Cubs in the -155 range for Friday, the Brewers in the -220 range.

Now that they're down a full game, Counsell has to have a really lightning quick hook on Davies tomorrow night. That's their biggest chance of blowing it, letting Davies give up 4 early and not being able to come back.

If they are tied on Sunday morning, does Joe bring back Quintana on 3 days rest and have Montgomery in the bullpen, or does he start Montgomery and save Quintana for the Brewers for game 163 on regular rest?

You give Quintana full rest and if needed, he pitches against the Brewers, who he has had such great success against. I think that both take 2 of 3 and the Cubs win the division by a single game. I hope it works out that way, so they get 3 days rest before the playoffs begin, with home field advantage throughout the NL playoffs. If Davies does get hit early and the Brewers wind up losing tomorrow and the Cubs win behind Hendricks, the pressure on Milwaukee goes to a whole new level. That's what I am hoping to see tomorrow.

Joe's cost the Cubs at least 5 games conservatively this year. They shouldn't even be in this precarious position. He constantly breaks hitters hot streaks to put in an ice cold saber metrics choice along with his bonehead pitching moves. Let's hope the Cubs flat out outlplay the Cardinals and their success doesn't boil down to Joe's moves.

Hopefully, for your sake, the Cubs don't mail it in.

That's most likely to happen. Congrats on knocking out the Cards 3 years in a row. The only thing that happened good this year was Matheny getting the boot.

Make sure Elmhurst Steve is able to teach you what happens in the event of a tie.

Very interesting indeed. The right handed batters look like shit against him but the left handed ones are doing just fine.

Havent you watched this Cubs team before? Hendricks will strike out on 3 pitches, murph and zobrist both swing first pitch so we could have a 5 pitch inning.
