He is a clear MVP and Baez is just a really good and exciting player. Yelich shows up every damn day at the plate and with the glove. Baez is still a very immature hitter.

Tigers threw in the towel after the 5th inning. Soon as the Tiger pitcher (Stumpf?) let go of that 2nd HR ball to Yelich you knew it was headed for the seats. Looked like dude was pitching to Yelich in the HR derby. And then Castellanos comes up in the 9th and he's the only hitter in the entire lineup who even mildly concerns the other team's pitchers...so no way Jeffress with bases empty and 2 outs is going to give Castellanos anything to hit. Instead of taking the sure BB, Castellanos swings weakly at 3 straight obvious balls way out of the zone, 2 of em in the dirt. Last 6 Tiger hitters all K'd. Tigers threw the game.

yea I was surprised he swung at 2 terrible pitches like that. at 84mph too.

I imagined Jeffress throwing those to any Cubs hitter and they would have taken both of those.

this being said, the Tigers have given them all they can handle. Competed hard overall when they have every reason to check out.

This is why the second WC and making the WC matchup a one-game deal is so unusually brilliant coming from Bud Selig.

If there was only one WC, these games would be meaningless, and all tomorrow's games would do is determine who plays LA/Colorado and who plays Atlanta.

If the WC round was best of 5, there wouldn't be as much at stake to lose the division.

Now, if either Chicago or Milwaukee loses two games in a row Monday/Tuesday, they're done even though they're tied for the best NL record right now.

As much as I am a Cub fan, if Milwaukee wins Sunday and Monday, making it an 8 game winning streak to finish out the season, they deserve to win the division.

Yeah, the Brewers are going for seven in a row to close the season and 19-7 in September to come from six games back. Gotta hand it to them. Amazing that the Cubs couldn't manage 3-3 to finish the season series.
