He never lied about not serving and did have bone spurs. You do not pass a physical when you have bone spurs in your feet. Every soldier's secondary MOS is 11B(infantry). I golfed with a guy who got 4Fed despite being pretty much a physical beast. Why? Because he lost his pointing finger in an accident when he was five years old. COuld the military give exceptions to their standards? Maybe it would be a smart thing BUT, if a guy's trigger finger isn't there, they it will interfere with his ability to fire a weapon and therefore will disqualify him for serving. Same thing applies to a guy who can't hump which infantrymen have to do in their line of work, also.

Blumenthal is a different cat. He tried his best to get out of serving using a half a dozen deferments and using his family's connections to find a slot for him in the National Guard. There was nothing physically wrong with him physically. Then he lied about being a combat soldier in Danang province during the war. I was in Danang province for a year after the Tet offensive and it was a high casualty theater all through my tour. Blumenthal is stolen valor personified and should be despised and is by anyone who did serve honorably.

You do realize lying about one's service is a lot worse than getting a medical waiver to avoid serving. It's an example of stolen valor.

YOu really are dumb. Getting turned down by the military is no disgrace if one has a mental or physical disability that would impede their performance. Trump had bone spurs which are a disqualifier for military service. Blumenthal lied deliberately about ever serving in Vietnam let alone in combat. He is a disgrace.

Not only that. But HOW DUMB is this guy anyway? Did he not think that someone would CHECK on the legitimacy of his claim? What a contrast to the guy that Trump is awarding the Congressional Medal of honor to, SSGT Ron Shurer, a Green Beret medic, who treated and protected his teammates in a battle in Afghanistan in a ceremony today. He is a true hero like his teammates were in that battle.
