I saw it playing throughout the weekend and sat down with my boys for a go. That is still a great movie. It is much more adult than I remember it as a kid but just a good watch for anyone who has gone through little league baseball.

I, too, have watched this a few times with my teenage kids.
1) listing all of the beer product placements is fun
2) the PC police would a field day with this movie in today's world

It is still a hilarious movie.....Tanner is absolutely priceless. "He's not dead, he's drunk!"

Once had a girl pitching for Reader Jr's little league team. She did ok in spot playoff relief, until she got plunked by a kid now in the Yankees organization.

May have been my fault in part, she'd just roped a line shot foul off of him & I even had his dad laughing about it

When they did the MLB mound distance conversion, it would've been in the middle nineties. But not Aroldis.

This covers almost any decent movie from the 70's/early 80's.

I guess it would be in character for buttermaker to be drinking a bunch of different branded loosies that were left over in his refrigerator but in the championship game alone he had at lest three different kinds of beer.

Ditto for Slapshot, another 70's sports movie that I'd only seen edited-for-tv until recently/in last few years. Or maybe I just didn't grok the Paul Newman/Reggie Ned Braden/Naked-Skater-Dude's Devil's Triangle back then.

Throughout the film, Coach Buttermaker (Walter Matthau) is constantly drinking beer, yet he is seldom seen drinking the same brand. Buttermaker is seen at various times in the film drinking Budweiser, Miller High Life, Schlitz "Kingers," Pabst Blue Ribbon, Lucky Lager, and Coors.

My grandma saw the movie and went from loving Paul Newman to hating him.

Same. My daughter laughed so hard at "get your gear and get your fat ass behind the plate before I kick it there!"

But we grew up strong and not wanting participation trophies. WTF happened to us?

I thought Tanner was the best of all the Bears, any time he was on screen it was comic gold.
