It's just a parade of awful baseball thoughts in this thread. It almost makes the Trump thread palatable by comparison. Almost.

Merlot Joe gets some points back for blowing up Willy for his BS today. He has acutally hit the ball well the last 2 days so hopefully this puts a fire up his ass.

If Maddon goes this winter, it'll be couched in mishandling the Russell situation, but it'll actually be for this shit.

I was thinking that today as they discussed his poor handling of the Russell situation. This would be an easy way to pull the plug on him and his awful in game decision making.

Bernstein showed that hand when he wrote about how shamefully Maddon acted compared to St. Theo in the press conference.

And now because of his horrendous pen management we get to see Jamie Garcia again.

Should the Cubs fail to advance past the Wild Card game, I doubt the Cubs extend Maddon ( he has just 1 year left on his contract) and that may prompt him to ask permission to talk to other teams about openings, which could very well lead to him leaving and hopefully Joe Girardi taking over for the Cubs.

you're projecting here.

i don't get your hate for Maddon. He's not going anywhere.

And Girardi? no way Theo hires him. He'll want to control everything and Theo isn't that kind of guy.

Maddon was a little short and snarky with Bernstein today when Bernsie asked about Russell. I think he hates Dan.

Maybe it won't be Girardi. maybe he isn't Theo's choice. Maybe David Ross ? But I definitely don't see him offering Theo an extension and without one, Maddon will ask to talk to teams about other openings.

Agreed -- a dozen teams would come running to pick him up if he was to be let go. I still think the clubhouse believes in him.
