Man you would not do well as a Sox fan.

Why, did the Sox win 95 games, blow a five-game lead, and not make the ALDS?

Does anyone remember how the Cubs got Theo? Theo's Red Sox choked against the Orioles and Maddon's team won a game against the Yankees to make the playoffs. Had that scenario gone differently maybe Theo doesn't come to the Cubs?

Yeah i never got the hype with him. Boston really hasn't missed a beat since he departed and i didn't really get the feeling that he had that much to do with their success in the first place.

He deserves credit for the Cubs but there have been a number of bad signings

If you're somehow thinking a 100 loss season for the millionth year on a row is preferable I will reluctantly throw you on the Spoiled Cub Fan category.

He did better when there was no real money to spend. Traded for guys like Arrieta Strop and Hendricks, as well as Rizzo and Russell and drafted well. At least in the first round, for position players. Lots of expensive mistakes in free agency.

CH has said on numerous occasions that he is not even a Cub fan any more.

So his act of being all pissed off is tiresome.

He should be prepping for the Blackhawks season.

He only has one year left on his deal. Do you think that Tom Ricketts will let Theo extend him this off-season?

If not, Joe is going to be grumpy. And does Theo want grumpy Joe around?

Is Joe responsible for scoring 2 runs the last 22 innings?

Hmm, don't remember that one. I've admitted that 2003, 2004, 2007, 2008, and the rebuild years chipped a lot away, but I watched/listened to more games than I didn't this year and last.

The manager has to be responsible for something.

When Anthony Rizzo is taken out of the lineup about halfway through a game, maybe he kind of is responsible for the lack of runs? Also when you have the worst October hitter in the history of the game pinch-hit with the bases loaded?

I know I'm nitpicking but if you don't want to be nitpicked don't put yourself in back-to-back one-gamers and then lose both.

1. Rizzo wouldn’t have stolen 2B.

2. Agree. Schwarber should’ve batted.

You are just being stupid now. You realize Rizzo being taken out is prob the only way they score the 1st run to tie the game?

Pretty much.
I'm not a baseball managerial maven, but when Rizzo got pulled, I just kind of threw my hands up and made dinner.
What more could Jon Lester have done, except for hit grand-slams in every at-bat he had?
It was pathetic. Yesterday was pathetic. Losing a five game division lead in less than one month was pathetic.
The only good thing I can make of this, is that at least Kate Chappell from CBS 58 news is happy that the Brewers won the division, and if she's happy, well...I guess I'm happy.

Need a leadoff hitter with some speed. Did I hear correctly that Almora only had 2 steal attempts this year? If he isn't going to hit for power, at least dedicate yourself to being a threat on the bases.

Move Schwarber and/or Heyward to make room for either Machado, Harper, or Donaldson.

Get a 2B (Dozier, LeMahieu, Merrifield, etc.).

Find some SP and RP on the bargain heap. Can't trust Chatwood and Darvish to stay in the rotation.

One of 2 GM's to win World Series championships in both leagues, the 70's Orioles/80's Mets guy being the other. Red Sox close the deal and Dombrowski will have World Series wins in both leagues. Dombrowski won with the Marlins in 97. Theo and Dombrowski should receive partial credit for 2013 and 2003--rosters largely composed of players they brought into the organizations before leaving.

Different styles of GM tho, Dombrowski and Theo. Dombrowski could care fuck-all about developing prospects. Prospects exist for Dombrowski mostly as trade-bait. While Theo seems to rely more heavily on/be better at rostering up with homegrown players and not so good at the free agent signing /trade for players part.

John Henry bringing in Bill James in 2003 probably had as much to do with the Red Sox success as Theo.

Schwarber sucks, he's hitting .199 with runners on this year.

 @ this thread. When did Maddon stop being the "best in the business"? Maybe you can get Ricky "Raw Deal" Renteria back.

Huh? Did you watch his moves in the WS? He did his best to blow it. I wouldn't fire him..I'd let him coach out his contract next year and find a new guy after next year.

Chili, Maddon, and Hickey can only work with the guys on their roster. The coaches share some blame, but MANY of Theo's players failed bigtime.

This thread is glorious.

Girardi literally lost a playoff game last year by failing to challenge an obviously wrong call.

If you're looking for someone you can trust when it matters....keep looking.

Really the only guy in baseball with a great post season track record is Francona.
