Is the tank portion effectively done? The highly rated prospects have been assembled and now we just hope that enough of them matter? Is it fair to expect at least a .500 team next year?

They should have been a 75-80 win team this season. I have no idea what the future will bring.

They will have fewer wins in 2019 than they had this year. They are getting worse.

I've heard on the broadcast 2020, and that was even before the Kopech injury. Hope Purdue hoops is good. I will not tell LTG.

I an optimistic view, I thought .500 before the season. I don't think that was realistic. I see that 75-80 win team in 2019.

I think what Hahn does this off season will determine how close they think they are. We are under the impression(I think Hahn said on the radio), 2020 we should be competitive.

I would assume Eloy is up 1st, with Madrigal up midseason. After that(outside of bullpen pitchers), I would assume Cease is up in 2020 and so is the wave of OF prospects. I think they are going to use another season to get Cease closer to that 200ip mark he will need for the majors. He had 93ip in 2017 and 124ip in 2018.

Yes the tank is done.

Now we are back to being awful on accident rather than on purpose.

75-87 is not a good record. That is only 7 games more than they won in 2017. I don't think expecting or asking for a 75-77-78 win total is drastic. I just wanted to see a little improvement and outside of Tim Anderson post AS Break, we really didn't see it from anybody.

It's pretty pathetic.

Cease won't make it through the Sox minors without suffering a serious injury. Pretend he doesn't exist.

This team will never be good again. I don't blame you if you still had a small glimmer of hope back in April but God destroying the ligaments of all our prospects should have given you a hint. Eloy will probably break his neck tripping over first base next spring training.

Well I gave up like 4 years ago. I want to know when I can come back. Sounds like 2020.

If there was ever a prospect to rush through a system it’s him. I want to say a relapse for Tommy Johns is about 7 years out. No point in wasting his bullets in the minors. I think next year will be year 4.

At least with Kopech there was the illusion he could be healthy.

I can endure a lot as a sports fan, but the White Sox have broken me. Trading away Chris Sale for nothing is just too much. The return on a future HOF pitcher has been reduced to what we hope and pray we can get out of Luis Basabe. The Eaton trade is really not much better. I had no problems with dealing those guys, I was very publicly down on Sale, but they were still stars for the Sox. To get absolutely nothing for them is crazy.

And its beyond getting nothing for them really. Its almost more that what they got for them was so poorly developed and carelessly handled in such a prescribed way that took no interest in what approach each individual player called for that bothers me. The Sox by rule seem to never let anyone skip a level anymore. The Sox by rule keep guys for an entire season at Charlotte. The Sox come up with an innings number preseason and dont stop until a guy has hit that number, even if like Kopech his velocity is cratering for no discernible reason.

Moncada is a bust no matter where he goes, that was just obviously stupid scouting and a case of Dombrowski tricking Hahn by slapping a BMW badge on a Chevy. But Giolito, Lopez, Kopech and Dunning all had real potential to be stars. Now they're all either injured or on their last chance to play well enough to stay in MLB. They could have endured the Moncada problem if they had made the right decisions with the pitchers. But issues like player control, and perception, and what it would look like to other minor leaguers crept into their minds and clouded whatever trace amounts of baseball judgment they had to begin with. The end result is: they have no idea what they are doing from a development standpoint. Hahn did a decent enough job bringing in a lot of young talent to the minors but the way in which they have squandered very nearly ALL of that talent is...I cant even think about it.

I'm done.

Thank god for 2005.

Their plan is a debut in 2020/21. Nobody gets rushed. If they didnt rush Eloy or Kopech they aren't going to rush Cease.

Sox were never tanking. They were putting a competitive team on the field year in and year out for their fans.

Your second place team played a mere two more games than the Sox this season. You have a right to be salty. Let your anger out. We are here for you.

I can live with a failed Chris Sale trade more than I can tolerate the half-assed approach they had prior to that. Doesn't make it right...but signing / trading for big contracts on washed up stars or tier 2 players (overpaid) was just unbearable for me.

We'll just have to see what happens next year. I can say I'm more inclined to go see them / follow them now than I was 2 years ago with a roster of overpaid veterans.

As long as Jerry runs the front office and coaching staff the same way he is running the Bulls, the Sox will never be anything better than mediocre. They really need to inject some new blood with an outside perspective. Business-as-usual is not going to cut it.

They saw what the rest of the league was doing and they tried to do the opposite. Thought they were seeing value in a Beane-esque way where nobody else did.

To coincide with his 21/22 Tommy Johns.

I'm not sure about fewer but it won't be too much more. Especially if we find out Rodon is hurt in the coming weeks.

Pretty much sums up my thoughts exactly.

The bottom line with Hahn is that you are sending out a boy to do a man's job. He's not smarter than Dombrowski and not smarter than Epstein.
