Don't know how true those Irving teaming with Butler rumors happen to be either.

Apparently Butler informed Thibs of his desire to be traded months ago and Thibs essentially ignored it.
Butler decided that he had to force his hand on it and hence the trade request was made again on Tuesday.

If Thibs would have remained insubordinate where Taylor (the owner) was concerned could Taylor have fired him without having to pay the remaining years of the contract?

Read somewhere that Thibs' refusal to trade Butler (even after the edict was laid down for Butler to be traded by the owner) would have opened up the possibility of him being fired for "just cause" reasons. If that is the case then the final 3 years of Thibs contract, valued at 24-25 mil would have been voided.

Never heard of that before. Anyone aware this clause?

He's not going to get traded before the season starts.

Easily a better GM than Thibs. He also will be an upgrade over Colangelo.

He will bring less drama, but his ability to evaluate talent remains to be seen.

yeah the jury definitely still out. Colangelo was about to ruin the franchise. I wonder what he will do with Brown? like him as a coach but he was exposed somewhat during the playoffs. That will probably be his first major decision.

Stevens is the 2nd best coach in the NBA. Brown has nothing to be ashamed about.

Simmons developing a shot will make Brown look a lot better.

So where is Thibs? thought he was your #2?

Brown blew at least 2 of those games and Hoiberg was up 2-0 with an inferior road team on the very same Stevens. Philly should have been able to win that series.

These things aren't static. In 5 years someone else could be behind Popovich. I would put Thibodeau in the top 10 to 15 coaches. He's trending downward.

Thats about where i had him several years ago. He may not be in the top 20 by year's end

They couldn't win without Butler last season so I don't have high expectations this year. I see somewhere around 30 wins.

Minnie proposed Butler to Milwaukee for Middleton and were rebuffed.

Not really though both will be free agents by year's end. I think Butler's super max demands (which is the real reason that he requested a trade) Are what is scaring teams off.

He isn't a franchise player though he thinks that he is.

This isn't even on Butler. Its on Thibs. As the GM he had to see this coming. You can't Supermax both guys and that problem loomed from the very beginning. Had he not made the trade you'd only be paying Towns Wiggins and Lavine right now and Lavine's money isn't prohibitive. Markkanen and Dunn would still be on rookie deals. Not to mention the idiotic signing of Dieng.

Butler is an injury waiting to happen but I think the swap was really Butler for Lavine with Thibodeau reluctantly including Dunn. I would have made that trade too. He didn't want to miss the playoffs 2 years in a row. Since Markkanen has been really good and healthy the draft swap makes this deal a steal for the Bulls.

That trade killed the franchise.

Miami isn't willing to part with Josh Richardson who? for Jimmy Butler.

Minnesota is screwed.

Worse case for Butler is that comes i, gets paid and plays angry.

If he is sincere about leaving he leaves at the end of the year. If Minnie gets nothing for him it would be a disaster.

If Miami is reluctant to part with Richardson then the market for Butler isn't worth much.

Thought it would be higher.

Taking back trash is just as bad as getting nothing. The trade deadline is always an option too.

Its not about having to take back trash. Miami is unwilling to trade Josh Richardson for Jimmy Butler.

Thibs is also insisting that teams take Dieng's contract and they are balking on it.
