Cubs would have still blown the series thanks to serious mismanagement by Dusty Baker.

This is still the all time worst take.
One of the biggest disgraces to sports ever.
HE DID NOT INTERFERE AND IT DID NOT COST THEM THE GAME OR THE SERIES.

Agreed. The correct thing to say about that game in terms of this thread is "Alex Gonzalez fields the ball cleanly, and turns the double play."

Completely disagree. Bartman is directly over Alou.

Without Bartman interfering, the Cubs get out of that inning and win the game and go on to beat the Yankees to win the WS.

Rather than change the rules of football to make it safer and avoid concussions, etc... the NFL simply tells the players about the risks inherent with the game and it is a play at your own risk proposition and players are required to sign liability waivers. They do not try to take ANY of the violence out of the game, because hell, that is what made it as popular as it is.

Your point about gambling is a valid one. Ratings we're down so sharply the past 2 seasons that even the modest increase this season, leaves those ratings still substantially lower and I believe fans liked the product much more when huge hits we're celebrated on segments of pregame shows. Now, if a player tackles a QB and he allows his body weight to fall on the quarterback, it's a penalty? The Clay Matthews penalties in the first few weeks were enough to make me wonder if they are going to go to 2 hand touch before long. It's a poor excuse for football.

Football is my 3rd favorite sport, always has been. I just feel there's a lot of unskilled athletes performing compared to my top 2 sports, baseball and basketball. So, in my view, gambling HAS to be the reason for it's #1 status.

Football ratings are down because less people have cable. They actually have increased their share of cable customers.

Do we still have the Expos then.

SOme good ones from other people, here is mine for the Bears, what if they draft Moss instead of Curtis Enis.

Another one, if the Broncos don't fire Shanahan, then no Cutler in Chicago.

If Luck comes out when he could of, is he a Panther today, and Manning stays a Colt his entire career or would they have still cut him.
