The witch in the forest outside the house did not look like the same creature with elongated limbs that was in the house.

I watched this on Hulu last night. I was a big fan of the original Blair Witch movie, and even though my wife and I both knew the original was fake when we saw it in the theater, it was still a creepy good movie. I think those of you above who talked about the acting in the new one hit the nail in the head. Five minutes in and you could just feel how much acting they were doing, i was never persuaded at all to believe this wasn't a fully scripted event with plot elements, whereas in the first one you could tell they didn't have a script and were more legitimate in their behavior. I liked some of the new elements they added to the original story but they were pretty reliant on jump-scares early on, one after the other, and it seemed like a contrived way to make it "scary" whereas the original was almost completely psychological. I had been looking forward to seeing this for a long time, and wasn't super-disappointed, but they definitely did not re-capture the hopelessness the characters were feeling in the original. Not a bad movie to watch this Halloween season though.

I'm still hoping for a follow up movie where actual government agancies try to solve the Blair Witch issue X-Files style.

Seems like if the footage got out it would a problem.
