Definitely not. My mom was allergic to one the generic versions of one of her meds. She could take the name brand just fine. Had something to do with the other "inactive" ingredients in the production process.

The prescription thing that annoys me is this: My insurance won't pay for a physical more than once every 366 days, and usually because of work travel and the like it's more like 400 days. But my prescriptions are all good for a maximum of 360 days. What the fuck? The politicians should legislate to allow generic medications to be able to be prescribed for 15 months instead of 12.
