It seemed that every game I ever went to there was an old guy smoking a cigar, drinking a beer and keeping score next to our family.

Park Life: The Summer of '77 at Comiskey Park. Amazing photos.

I remember the South Side Hit Men t shirts people used to wear. I had no idea what it meant

Wish I still had mine....it wouldn't fit, obviously, but I'd frame that thing.

Was there when Dave Nicholson put one over the roof in left center and almost hit another one over it later.

Remember also when Old Jack Brickhouse interviewed Ted Williams and had a record player with him. Put a 78rpm record on without the sound and Williams could read the name of the record, the singer, and the very small print on the label. THe guy's eyesight was pheomenal which I guess why he was a fighter pilot in two wars.

Jagoff of the Week: Jerry Reinsdorf, owner of White Sox and Bulls

http://www.lumpenmagazine.org/jagoff-of ... and-bulls/

...
Say what you like about Wrigleyville, at least you can get a drink without enriching the Cubs’ owners. The Sox promised to re-open McCuddy’s, the historic 35th Street family-owned bar, where Babe Ruth was reputed to have had beer and hot dogs during games. More than two decades later, we’re still waiting.

The park itself was designed to maximize the number of skyboxes, which makes its upper deck a vertiginous ski slope with terrible views of the game. Instead of the retro Camden Yards, Reinsdorf delivered the last of the truly ugly ball-malls to his fans, who stay away in droves to thank him.

Great memory of a double header against Oakland. Not a today double header, a real old school double header.

Between games was a fan contest to create the best banner. I got to walk the field with my brother displaying the banner of my Harry Caray and Jimmy Piersall caricatures.

Looked up in the television booth and saw Jimmy get Harry's attention while pointing to my banner. Got a thumbs up, a "Hey!" and a wave of Harry's beer can. That was a great day in old Comiskey.

Went to a few games there. Dekalb had season tickets and there wasn’t much demand for any baseball tickets whilst my dad worked for them. Good memories.
