Go see it .
It tells the story well .Sets up Tony Stark history and motives.
The action was cool .The Suits looked good .
Watch out for Terrance stamp(Rhodes ) when he has his scene near the end .
Downy Jr was born to play the role . His transformation scene at the press conferance is compelling .
Im not a Big Gwyeneht Paltrow fan but she pulls her weight and looks smashing .
As said before Terrance stamp looked and did a great job .
Jeff Bridges was an incredible bad guy .
Also you must I repeat must stay till the credits are over .Long Credits but stay you will be glad you did .
Best scene in the movie was fierst time he tried to fly in the new suit

Took the family to see it today.

LOVED IT.

I wanted to kill my 14 year old daughter just before it started because she wouldn't get her damned feet off the seat in front of her and she was texting on her phone.

But I quickly put her on my 'pay no mind list' after taking her phone from her when she gave me the 'OH GOSH' for telling her to put her feet down. She's now in non-cell phone purgatory for a few days. Fuck 'er....

I don't think the movie was as good as Spiderman, but I thought it was very well done, and highly recommend it.

Robert Downey Jr. is PERFECT for the role. Good to see Jeff Bridges working again, and Gwynny was pretty solid too. LOVED Stan Lee's cameo too. :)

They could have had Ozzy saying "I am Iron Man" right after Downey said it though... I would have done it that way.

I don't care if this sounds far-fetched, Robert Downey Jr. deserves to be nominated for best actor. I'm not saying he should win, but in my opinion, this is the greatest superhero portrayal in cinematic history.

Excellent movie!

While it was an excellent performance, I'd have to disagree, simply because it's questionable how much "acting" Downey really did.

I agree... I really enjoyed Robert Downey Jr. in this flick, but it was really him bringing a lot of himself to the role, which certainly made it more enjoyable.

Saying he deserves an Oscar nomination would be like saying Tobey Maguire deserves one for his take on Peter Parker.

Downey did an awesome job though. I loved him trying to perfect the suit in his basement and the many snafus along the way.

Additionally, I'm about the furthest thing from a Gwyneth Paltrow fan as there is, but something about her in this role worked, and she looked highly foxy.

Does anybody have a link to the 'footage about the sequel' that was shown after the credits rolled?

That'll teach me for walking out on an Iommi/Geezer guitar clinic!

FUCK!

Downey always reminds me of many many little pussies I went to HS with and thus to imagine him as one of my all time fave comic book guys is tough.

What did fred say? that is the true test

I loved it too but I was disappointed. Not giving much away here but I didnt like how Downey took so long to learn how to use the suit but Jeff Bridges jumped in his and was an expert. And Downey was the weapons expert. Good flick though. My 15 yr old loved it too.

Saw it this morning. Not much else to say that hasn't been said--this was an absolute blast. Downey, Jr. may not be one of my favorite people in the world but he is one of my favorite actors. He was a big reason why this movie was so much fun. Favreau turned out to be the perfect director for this, and I'm glad he didn't feel the need to stoop to the level of throwing Vince Vaughn in there--he wasn't needed. Downey, Jr. stole the show, and made this fun for the whole family.

Hands down one of the best superhero movies of all time, rounding out up the top 5 with "Spiderman 2", "Superman", "Batman Begins" and "X-2".

I'm a fan of it, I just don't think it's better than the aforementioned films.

Hmm. I guess I'm just too critical of movies these days. I usually find myself walking out of the theater disappointed, and this was no exception. I have no background with the Ironman comics, but I saw the movie mostly based on the good reviews; I found it to be mildly entertaining, but not worth the $9.50 raping I took to get in.

I'm with you, Matt. While I enjoyed Robert Downey's performance quite a bit, I found the film's soundtrack oppressive, its constant barrage of special effects both mind-numbing and nauseating, and its story absurd. Further, while the representation of Middle Easterners was typically condescending if not completely racist, the most troubling ideological aspect of the film was its attempt to critique the military-industrial complex while still fetishizing "weapons" themselves as the solution to geopolitical crises. This movie sucked.

You're description of things you hated (besides the soundtrack) can also be used to describe most comic books.

Hehe. Yeah, that soundtrack was indeed oppressive; the whole time I sat there rolling my eyes at the tacky 'metal' theme obviously meant to recall "Ironman." Why the fuck did they wait until the credits to play the actual song? The story was absurd. I mean, come on: they had a camera on him the whole time and they didn't notice he was building an Ironman until it was finished?

Quote:

I sat there contemplating that as I watched the film as well. Business as usual.

Mm. Interesting paradox I hadn't considered; I guess I never got past the first couple points you mentioned.

Good hero flick. Made great by the fact that the wife wanted to see it, thus saving me from "Sex and the City".

Emasculation avoided.

I also thought it was okay but disappointed compared to how much this movie was hyped. Have to admit I didn't see it in the theater though. Watched a pirated cam version from BitTorrent so I'm sure that didn't help.

Finally saw it today. I HATE Robert Downey & Gwyneth Paltrow. I didn't know much about the Iron Man story either. So I had very low expectations going in.

Walking out... loved it. I liked the story line. The writing was good. Special effects awesome. Still not a big Paltrow fan and I would have casted someone else in her role. Someone like Poppy Montgomery from Without A Trace. http://www.maxim.com/PoppyMontgomery/gi ... m/926.aspx

Kudos to Downey for turning his career around. Hopefully his 4th, 5th, and 6th chance at renewing his career doesn't end up his nose.

Worth full fair.
