Yeah, that's about their size, and it's a good-sized dog. I like the 70 - 90 lb range. Big enough to look/sound intimidating, small enough that they're not gigantic.

Only drawback being their high strung nature.

Parents had two dogs back in the day. First they had was a 90 pounder. Second was always “small” at 65 pounds. They bought him in Germany when dad was stationed there. Sako was not particularly high strung unless his switch was flipped. His switch was small fury animals such as cats and he wasn’t fond of strange men. Mom always felt safe when dad was doing one of his tours with that dog.. the neighbors cats? Not so much.

Dog believed my dad was a stranger when he came back from second tour. That went over well.

I'm a fan of the Great Pyrenees.

A good Doberman is not high strung but very active and alert. Also a very well bred male can be a lean muscular heavier variant.

Basset Hound

Not to big, not too small, super personalities. Not too high maintenance on walking.

Also they do the trick for getting women to walk over and say hello.

Based on your description....avoid a Weimaraner at all costs.

Honestly if you don't want to have a dog for 15 years and don't want to walk it everyday, its probably best to not get another dog then.
