I've been an NBA fan for years but haven't followed a team seriously since the early 2000 Timberwolves. I was always a Garnett guy.
Been keeping tabs on the Bucks for the last few years and enjoyed watching Giannis get bigger and stronger but always a bit frustrating
because they didn't have the right coach and were missing a few pieces. Off to a 3-0 start with the new head man, brand new arena to
play in, and a lot of excitement from the fan base. There is room on the bandwagon if you want to hop on. I'll try to keep some Bucks
thoughts going in this thread over the course of the season and playoff run.

Budenholzer is a MASSIVE upgrade over Kidd. I'd love to see Milwaukee make it out of the East this year.

Just thought I would create a season specific thread for the championship run this year. The other thread has been great for the last 8 years. If the
moderators want to delete this one it is up to them. I think the Bucks will be getting a lot more pub this season.

Nice win for the Bucks last night. I wasn't able to tune in unfortunately, but saw the 30 second highlight this morning. Next two games against
Timberwolves and Magic not all that interesting to me but next Monday vs the Raptors and Wednesday is a national game on TNT vs Celtics, so
those will be interesting matchups

The Raptors game will definitely be interesting.

I'm glad Budenholzer finally brought the team in to the 21st century with regards to 3 point shooting.

Milwaukee's Giannis Antetokounmpo (concussion protocol) and Toronto's Kawhi Leonard (rest) will not participate in Monday night's game. :?

Milwaukee Bucks (7-0)

Our first repeat customer! Mike Budenholzer’s Bucks are rolling, man, opening the season with seven straight wins—that’s one more than the longest winning streak Milwaukee rolled up during the Jason Kidd era, if you’re keeping score at home—including a 15-point win over the previously undefeated Toronto Raptors. It’s tough to take too much from Monday’s win; superstars Giannis Antetokounmpo (concussion protocol) and Kawhi Leonard (scheduled rest) missed the game, as did key Raptors reserves OG Anunoby and Fred VanVleet. But Milwaukee still looked awfully good without Antetokounmpo, capable of distributing scoring responsibilities while making tactical shifts (in this case, leaning more on the size of Brook Lopez, Ersan Ilyasova, John Henson, and Thon Maker against a smaller-ball Raptors group) to apply pressure. Malcolm Brodgon and Eric Bledsoe attacked, first-round pick Donte DiVincenzo flashed potential, and the Giannis-less Bucks still went 10 deep without breaking a sweat. Impressive.

From the About to Get Scrooge McDuck–Rich file: Khris Middleton, who holds a $13 million player option for next season, is one of only 12 players averaging more than 20 points, five rebounds, three assists, and a steal per game. He’s also making almost 55 percent of his 3-pointers while taking more than seven a night, which is (a) extremely good, and (b) the kind of thing that will only further cement his bona fides as the NBA’s best player that nobody outside of Basketball Twitter ever talks about. (That’s all right, though, because we talk about him incessantly.)

Plenty of ink has been spilled on the Bucks’ offensive overhaul under Budenholzer, but the strides they’ve made on the other end might matter more for their chances of turning this hot start into a real shot at a Finals berth. The more conservative scheme Budenholzer imported to replace the frenetic high-hedging under Kidd has produced way fewer shots at the rim from opponents (only Detroit’s preventing those better, according to Cleaning the Glass) and way more shots from midrange (only the Nets, Pistons, and Jazz have forced more). The result has been across-the-board improvement: Milwaukee ranks first in effective field goal percentage allowed, second in overall defensive efficiency and fast-break points allowed, and in the top 10 in second-chance points allowed, opponents’ free throw rate, defensive rebounding rate, and points conceded in the paint.

That defensive profile might change a bit; it’s probably not reasonable to expect opponents to keep shooting 28.8 percent from 3-point range. But for the most part, the Bucks are giving up the shots they want, contesting them well, grabbing the rebounds, and slicing the opposition to ribbons once they’ve got the ball. If they keep this up, they’ll be a threat to do a hell of a lot more than just grab a top-four seed in the East.

It's crazy how much of an upgrade Budenholzer is from Kidd.

Clearly you have not consulted with the NBA experts on the board.

He's probably a step above Hoiberg, but he's finished getting any high profile gigs. I'm sure he could latch on in some NBA hell-hole like Sacramento, they're ownership is fucked up enough to give him a shot.

I'll be tuning in for the game tonight on TNT, should be a good one. I should be able to stay awake for the first half anyway.

Good game last night. I dozed off a bit during halftime and then caught a little bit of the 3rd before heading to bed. Milwaukee just couldn't hit
from the outside. They kept it pretty close all night and still had chances at the end based on the highlights I saw. Still a nice start for the Bucks.
They have a challenging road trip coming up next week. At Portland, Golden State, Clippers and then Denver before coming back home. Pretty
tough week.

I went in with a group on season tickets this year, was at the Philly game. The new arena is very nice and glad to have a good team to play in it.

 Hawger! Nice to have you back. :bounce: :bball:

Hoping to make it to a game at some point. Going to a concert in the new arena but want to see a game this winter.

To argue that he didn't develop the young talent that they have is silly since Greek Freak, Brogdon, Middleton and Parker all developed under Jason Kidd.

Brogdon won rookie of the year playing for Kidd as a 2nd round pick. He would not have seen the floor as a rookie had he played for Thibs.

Greek Freek became all world following Kidd's decision to make him a 1.

Middleton was a 2 round pick that became good to very good under Kidd.

Parker was a borderline all star prior to the 2 Knee surgeries while playing for Kidd.

Whether he is a good coach or not can be debated. Debating whether he helped develop the young talent or not isn't .He did and I just provided 4 examples of it.

Your senility is showing against. Most of us have thought he was an awful coach since his NJ coaching stint.

He is a good coach that is why. Budenholzer is better but that doesn't make Kidd worst. Funny how the newfound love Budenholzer is working for some. I had him to be a massive upgrade over Thibs and the guys on here thought "no way". See how that is working for them now.

I never doubted that the guys liked playing for Kidd or that he was a bad guy even. Just remember watching them with him and they
couldn't D up at all and just didn't seem like much of an X's and O's guy. They always looked like turkeys running around with their
heads cut off on both ends of the floor. Kidd seemed like the coach we all loved as kids that wouldn't be very concerned about running
drills and working on fundamentals but would roll a ball out and play 3-on-3 or 5-on-5 so that he could evaluate talent that way
