I think I have finally found a former QB that he is comparable to. He is the next...............Daunte Culpepper.

I see him as a Romo/McNabb guy. Culpepper sucked once you took away his toy.

I wouldn't say Romo...Romo was known for hanging behind the line of scrimmage and avoiding running unless as a last resort.

This I can agree with. Culpepper had a much bigger arm and actually wanted to be a quarterback

The only people that think Young is comparable to (Pro Bowl QB) Trubisky in anything other than the position they play are people really too young to have seen Young you know, actually play the game before his last couple of years. Or don't appreciate that today's numbers are the byproduct of hamstrung defenses.

That's fair. Neither are HoF players but you can win because of them.

McNabb learned how to play quarterback and was really good. I think Mitch is heading in that direction.

My earliest memory of sports was the reaction to the Bears winning the Super Bowl but not the actual game. I missed young Steve Young but I remember when the torch was passed. This is more of me praying for something truly special.

Maybe that was later in his career...but when he took the starting job from Bledsoe, one of the reasons was their line was so bad and he was mobile and able to throw on the run.

I watched Young when he played with the Bucs and up. (Pro Bowl QB) Trubisky definitely has moments that remind me of him. His escapability being one of the main things.

Being as good as Young is a different story, but there are similarities. I’m not sure why you’d argue against that -maybe you didn’t watch Young play.

Yeah, you could be right...I just remembered it being a lot of running around -- not to gain yards, but to buy time.

(Pro Bowl QB) Trubisky has a long way to go before he can be favorably compared to Romo or McNabb. The Steve Young reference is obviously ridiculous.

Was it Steve Walsh who was on with Mike North complaining that he should be judged by yards per completion and not yards per attempt? Or Shane Matthews?

Did you watch young McNabb or Romo? I would argue that (Pro Bowl QB) Trubisky is actually ahead of McNabb right now.

Ahead of McNabb in terms of what? Overall skills? Or overall skills compared to other quarterbacks of their respective generations?

Production, accuracy, reading defenses and being comfortable in the pocket.

I've been watching Young play since BYU. What he was was free wheeling, but he always had better mechanics, accuracy and was a far, far smarter player than Mitchell. He had nothing around him in Tampa, and near universal scorn from the football elite for playing too "wide open", just like Warren Moon had been.

(Pro Bowl QB) Trubisky is simply proving to be generally inexperienced and possibly even a little slow witted on the field. Making any comparison to a HOF player ridiculous at this stage.

someone needs to normalize eras so you can compare stats better. passing accomplishments 20 years ago should not be compared 1:1 today.

Not sure if slow witted is fair when over the past few weeks his adjustments at the line have led to touchdowns.

It's not ridiculous at all. It's a statistical fact of a quirky streak of random stats.

He's at his best when he's being spoon fed opening half drives. A crapshoot thereafter.

Goff is spoon fed the entire game and doesn't get to make any reads or adjustments and folks love him. Mitch has been better off the script recently and has actually been worse with it.

I agree with you on Goff. But I seriously doubt that (Pro Bowl QB) Trubisky well ever be consistent with any phase of pro football. Parkins' just showed his glaring lack of perspective.

Obviously I'm a Bears fan and you aren't but I think you're wrong. I'm seeing things that I don't normally see from Bears quarterbacks and I believe that he'll be really good. Not sure if it will approach greatness but really good is a clear upgrade over what I've seen in my lifetime.

So quirky and random as to be completely irrelevant, certainly at this stage.

Fair enough, but by grading him on a scale of what you've seen from Bears quarterbacks is almost remedial level.
