That was the brilliance behind it. The movie was mocking the fact that a dumb ass actor would do such a thing.

I bet ya were a big zoolander fan too, eh?

I never saw Zoolander. Is it good?

20 minutes was all I could stomach, just like Tropic Thunder.

It's got some good scenes and bits but I detest Ben Stiller. No movie with his unfunny ass in it could ever be a top five comedy.

Yes. It gets better every time too.

We was great in Happy Gilmore. He was great in Mary. Other than that not a fan.

I think Tropic Thunder was possibly one of the worst movies I have ever seen.

And Erotic Lawyer is right. I would add Mystery Men to his list, but other than that, Ben Stiller is the drizzling shits.

Tropic Thunder had its moments.
I still lol at Downey when he distracts Stiller to take the map... any tips? Any tips?

Garth Marenghi's Darkplace is a 15 year old UK comedy mini-series but really funny. At least I thought so. You can find it free on Youtube.

Not surprised by yet another horrendous hate filled 312 take, but MANY of you are just dead ass wrong about this movie.

Sad

Borat

Borat came out over 10 years ago, and is even older than Tropic Thunder.

If you didnt find this movie funny, your comedy sensor is broken.

Top 5 all time is a bit much. Its probably top 5 of this centuries comedies though.

If not, name 5 better ones

Yeah, it's a great comedy. Maybe it holds up, maybe it doesn't, but on the first viewing years ago it was awesome.

I am the same way. I only like him in Dodgeball.

I may have to re-watch Tropic Thunder given all the love here. I have only seen it once, and it didn't do much for me. But there is sure a lot of love for it around this place.

Denis, I would suggest approaching the movie with the perspective it is a commentary on Hollywood and unchecked egos in the movie industry.

Plus a lot of Downey and Cruise's dialogue/acting was improvisation. Which should add to the appreciation.

Great movie, but that's a big statement. Here are some of the better comedies from this century..

40 year old virgin
Super bad
Hangover
Bridesmaids
Shawn of the Dead
Team America
Bad Santa
Meet the Parents
Teh Royal Tennebaums
Best in Show
Napoleon Dynamite
Elf
Anchorman
Borat

I liked TT a lot, but I would take most of the movies on this list ahead of it.

That’s actually exactly how I feel about “The Hangover”.

And you left out “Old School”.

Tropic Thunder holds up really well compared to a lot of those films on that list.

Bad Santa was too predictable for me.

I dont think Elf belongs on that list either. The rest are good.

Napoleon Dynamite has not aged well at all.

40 year old virgin was 30min too long.

Elf isn't really a comedy.

Meet the Parents isn't anywhere near Tropic Thunder's level.

Plus, no Talladega Nights, Observe and Report, or Step Brothers?
