Old thread got pruned.

Sunk cost. Time to bounce this loser before he becomes an even worse anchor.

I have more faith in Federowicz getting a hit than his lazy ass.

Szczur can't come back from DL soon enough.

Heyward is a worse hitter than Arrieta and Ross per weighted on-base!!!!!

When this buster isn't popping the ball out to the 2B he's flailing at strike 3.

He needs his ass stapled to the bench before he sabotages anymore games with his deadass at-bats.

Talk to yourself much? Maybe you should show him how to hit. I am sure your input will be welcome.

I know his history. He was nearly benched in a similar situation last season with the Cardinals. They dropped him in the order too. But then the weather warmed up and he went on a tear and wound up batting .293. He will be better. But batting him 2nd still, when he is not hitting, nor getting on base enough to justify keeping him at the top of the lineup. he has a career .225 average in April and where he is at in mid May, is not unusual for him. But even though his average will improve, he still will not hit for much power, nor drive in many runs. Signing him to a 190 million dollar contract was crazy.

I never liked the signing. Thought it was unnecessary and way too large a contract for a poop hitter. It's not my money, though. He needs to be moved down and benched every now and again. He's just not very good.

You do not know jack shit. Cardinals were never going to bench him. He is not a power hitter was not signed for that he was booked for defense and being a productive hitter. He is a six or bottom of order in this lineup. Rizzo and Bryant need to get going. Crap ass at bats for a week now. Quit making excuses for Heyward. Time to start producing.

Actually, I do know. Last season on May 5th, he was hitting just .233 with a OBP of just .277 in 101 plate appearances. The Cardinals dropped him in the batting order and many Cardinal fans called for his benching. But he snapped out of it as far as his batting average and OBP was concerned, although his power numbers remained awful.

But sure, Heyward was not the only guy not hitting much in some of the recent games. Earlier in the season, there were so many hitters going strong, that having one or two guys struggling, wasn't really cause for great concern. but when each at bat becomes more important because the team has not scored 7 runs (as they averaged for a while early this season) it becomes a bigger issue and you notice that certain guys are failing a lot.

So as I said the Cardinals were not going to bench him. Cardinal fans were calling for it but it was not going to happen. So you are wrong as usual. Play again. Thanks.

The Cardinals did give him some games off and drop him in the order, but ultimately did not bench him for an extended time. But why the Cubs never dropped him in the order I cannot understand. But now that he's injured, Maddon can get a more productive hitter in the #2 hole and hopefully Zobrist, Russell or whoever he puts there does a better job of setting the table for Bryant and Rizzo.

I think he's pressing, I expect he will be much better in due time but Maddon gotta get his head out of his ass and move him down...this starting to remind me of Lou piniella continually Putting Soriano at leadoff or Dusty putting Patterson at leadoff..enough is enough.

Part of the problem is Maddon still batting him 2nd too.

You want to keep that R/L thing going though. And you've got to have somebody behind Rizzo who the other team has to think twice about.

Well, that's the typical fan. They want Almora to play everyday until he does play everyday and then they'll understand why he wasn't playing everyday.
