It's laughable you think you're more objective than NFL writers who don't give a shit about the Bears or Packers.

Even you don't agree with that ranking. What was the basis for it? Looks like a guy craving clicks.

I don't agree with it entirely, but I recognize that it's a fair evaluation of him from a writer who doesn't have a dog in the fight. It's strange you can't also acknowledge that fact.

Let me just isolate this. You are wrong. He is LITERALLY saying he's just like Bortles! What else could very Bortles-esque mean?

But yes, he's not an idiot, so of course he's going to acknowledge that it's too early to say Mitch can't grow out of these Bortles-esque tendencies.

Ok. So if (Pro Bowl QB) Trubisky proves to be better than Bortles than Barnwell is wrong.

(Pro Bowl QB) Trubisky is already better than Bortles.

Just making a statement doesn't make something objective or a fair evaluation. Using data to explain why you're making that statement is entirely different. Besides these guys don't watch all of these games.

He's middle of the road, no way can you spin it that he is bottom 5-6.

Agreed. Closer to top 10 than bottom 10.

Nope. He wasnt making a prediction on what Mitch will become. He was making a statement on how he's performed up til now.

These comparisons are ridiculous considering Mitch barely played in college and is only a second year player.

He has definitely shown that he can learn on the job and has made tremendous strides in his development.

If he was a floundering 5th or 6th year guy, that'd be different.

To make these sorts of comparisons now is pure clickbait.

As I said, this is what modern analysis is now. It's meaningless. He could have posted his stat line and it would have been just as informative.

Just in the past few games, it's clear that Mitch has gone from deer in headlights taking off running, blind to wide open options, to running with a purpose and identifying targets better.

When the season started, MANY people, including MANY on this board, including myself, who watched Mitchell's eyes glaze over as he took off running and making horrible decisions, were ready to burn him at the stake and replace him. He's clearly made major improvement since then.

To not take into account his clear growth makes these "analyses" virtually worthless.

They aren't analyzing anything. They're just vomiting at the mouth. They didn't provide any statistical evidence to support their claims. The Bears screen passing has sucked this year. When someone tells you (Pro Bowl QB) Trubisky's stats are inflated because of screens the you know that they just saw a highlight from the Jets game. That was the only screen pass that was successful all year.

I don't think you are getting the point. There is no reason to like or dislike what he is saying. It means nothing. If he is playing like Bortles through these many games then that is fine. If the idea is that he will continue to play like Bortles then I would disagree.

I'm not making a big deal of it. I'm saying it doesn't really mean anything. That's the opposite of making it a big deal.

You and others certainly jumped on that comment by Barnwell like it was a big deal. Kinda strange.

FF is making a big deal out of comments that aren't supported by any data because they made good points in the past and used data. You really can't make this stuff up.

It's not necessarily all that interesting. I only posted the quote in response to Nas saying I was trolling for making the Mitch/Bortles comparison. Whatever you think of Barnwell, he's clearly not trolling in that tweet.

It is nonsense to even argue about (Pro Bowl QB) Trubisky versus Rodgers. (Pro Bowl QB) Trubisky is a very young guy who has a helluva positive future in front of him. Rodgers is a HOFer veteran who won one championship and will win no more because his team is in decline. The future of the Bears is right now on the upswing and Green Bay is going to go into the toilet. Fitting place since Green Bay stinks like shit anyway.

I generally agree with that Barnwell guy. He has a solid and fair take on Mitch’s performance to date.

No he doesn't. Mitch can't throw a touch pass. The Bears suck with screens. Mitch doesn't recklessly run. Mitch is in the top 10 in nearly every important statistical category. Even the advanced stats. Bortles is a bottom 3 QB that will be out of the league in a couple of years.

Mitch absolutely runs recklessly. Most of his biggest supporters will say that as well.

Most of the rest of the post is wrong as well but to a lesser degree.

There is data that says otherwise. (Pro Bowl QB) Trubisky's runs since Week 3 have been by design or when he went through his progressions or a play broke down. There haven't been happy feet runs. Again this is something that would be known if games were being watched.

Bottles can run but Mitch is an all around better QB, bad analogy.

Bortles did have a good run his second year. 35tds and 4500 yards passing. Even with those stats he had a passer rating of 86. Mitch is 97 right now.

Just because Blake plateaued doesn’t mean mitch will. Keep on trollin
