No, Tampa traded for that fraud.

Who won his only super bowl because his Raiders replacement was too stupid not to change the offensive calls that dipshit(Gruden) installed for the Raiders while he was there

He was fired by Tampa Bay

My middle son was in town from school last night, so we went to the local sports bar to eat/watch the game. They had gymnastics on the big screen. :?

Once we muscled our anti-SJW agenda onto the tvs, we got this game and the local WMU v. Ohio. At least the kids in Kalamazoo had reason to stay away from the game in droves- it was like 41F, raining and windy.

The small set had the Red Wings/Devils game where the new balck seat covers far outnumbered the paying spectators. That looked like a repeat of Devil's Night in Detroit until the third.

And, they quit the ten-cents-per-ounce Rolling Rock draft program.

Shitty first day of vacation, for sure.

I was in Kalamazoo two weekends ago for a wedding, I was surprised at how how many parts of that town are an absolute dump

The Raiders went from a very good team to the worst team in football in little more than one season. Trust the Raiders to do something extremely stupid and bringing in Gruden was right up there as one of their worst decisions ever.

I feel sorry for David Carr who doesn't deserve this shit show organization.

The 12-4 team was one of those crazy seasons where every break went the Raiders way. They weren't that good as last season showed. The Mack situation was unfortunate but the rest of their moves have been fine. Blaming Gruden isn't fair. McKenzie has been one of the worst GM's in the league for years. His drafts and FA signings have been awful. He hit the Powerball with Mack and Carr. Cooper was ok but the rest has been a dumpster fire. The last draft which was the first Gruden's people have had input in looks very promising. Next year they will have a ton of cap room and draft picks to spend. Bosa looks like the real deal. Gruden was smart to tear it down early when he saw the roster wasn't good enough.

Me and my kid fly out to a home and away game every season. We're going to the Steelers game in December. Hopefully that will be the last time I ever step foot in Oakland Alameda. I am hoping the Raiders play in SD next season.

I was riding Amtrak through K'zoo and sorely wish I had been able to take this picture: a Dairy Queen across the street from the football stadium or thereabouts. The lit neon sign in the window says OPEN. The letters on the marquee say CLOSED.

It's been a city of conflict since I was there mid-eighties. College town, and old colleges at that- the private Kalamazoo College has kept up some beautiful buildings. The GM/ Fisher Body plant is closed, I think. Upjohn and Stryker created some high-dollar jobs. Most of the 1900-era two story houses that were rentals when I was there are long gone, replaced by huge apartment complexes. Virtually all the retail moved SE to Portage, the Naperville of the area, abandoning the downtown to crumble. Sure, some of it has been resurrected, but far from all. Quite a bit of new retail on the NE corner in the last few years, my boys are sharing an apartment in that direction as they finish their degrees. The Kalamazoo Promise kept a lot of folks inside the city limits, as kids who went to City schools K-12 got full ride scholarships to any in-state college they chose .

Story of a lot of exurban Illinois towns of the previous decade: DeKalb, McHenry, and Woodstock come to mind as similar donut towns, where the big boxes came up on the outskirts and the downtowns died.

Most of the retail area in DeKalb has always been in between DeKalb and Sycamore. It def has grown in the last 25 years, and it is still growing.

That 3 block stretch of downtown DeKalb has lost a couple bars/restaurants, but I wouldn't necessarily say it's dead. Still a nice amount of little shops.

You travel to DeKalb often?

It's been a few years (I was there for a drum corps show and had dinner at Eduardo's), but Main Street looked pretty bad to me, as I recall.

Main Street has never looked good. It's always had a dumpy aspect to it.

Maybe you don't want to say it, or don't know, but people who grew up there are fleeing DeKalb because the gentrification of certain Chicago housing projects 10-15 years ago brought a dramatic increase to the amount of crime in the city. It's really something.

All they had to do was give a fuck about health code violations and they'd still be open.

Today the owners of O'Leary's announced they are shutting down as well.

Lot of BS/Corruption with DeKalb town politics.

I was just in Woodstock last weekend - the downtown is actually alive and well.

That team last year QUIT on their QB when he stood for the national anthem and quit blocking for him which ended up with him hurt and missing games. And when Mack supported Carr in his position, no way was the team going to re-sign him. The Raiders could have been a contender. They had an offensive line ranked among the best in all of football and a quality young quarterback. Now that Gruden is housecleaning their good players all he is doing is intentionally giving himself an excuse for failure and to buy himself TIME.

Gruden is just a egotistical asshole.

Much like Ed Harris' character in The Rock, a great warrior has been marginalized for some time.
