Finally started watching this yesterday. Got through the first 3 episodes. I followed the Hallbach case pretty closely on the news and figured it
was a pretty open and shut case so I am finding this quite interesting thus far.

the Serial podcast killer dude won another appellate round, with the "second highest" appeals court in MD also ruling in favor of Syed getting a new trial. The prosecutor has another bite at the appeal apple, up to Maryland's version of a state supreme court; before they have to decide whether to try dude again or, more likely, cut him a plea deal for time served.

Part 2 released on Netflix. Kathleen Zellner is his attorney now. She seems sharp and frightening to watch speak.

Never got into this cause at the end of the day I don't have much interest in watching a show about a guy who was framed for something he most likely did anyway...and will probably do again if given the chance.

About half way through season 2 and it is alright I guess. I was always convinced that they killed the girl but the new attorney brings up some
interesting points. Some of it is still a stretch to me but at least there is some seed of doubt in my mind. Good chance I will finish this by the
end of the weekend. Not sure I would recommend watching it unless you were really enthralled with the first one. I am interested in it because
I remember when the trial and everything was going on. Darkside is right about the attorney, she is pretty creepy to watch. I can't tell if she had
a lot of plastic surgery done some years ago and now it is starting to come unglued, but with the amount of makeup she wears combined with the
strange features she is kind of scary.

After season 1, I was certain Dassey didn’t do it and was unsure whether Avery did. After this season, I’m pretty certain that neither of them did it.

the show DEFINITELY makes me want to hear Bryan and Bobby Dasseys stories in a little more detail.

Just finished Season 2.

Avery is creepy as fuck, and I know there was stuff left out of the show to make the audience feel a certain way, but I can't get past the following:

1. Everyone knew Halbach was going to Avery's house. How could he possibly think the police wouldn't investigate him right out of the gate?
2. Would he be that stupid to leave her car on his property and cover it up with a few branches? When he lives on an auto salvage yard with a car crusher?
3. If he slit her throat and/or shot her in the garage, there would be blood everywhere. His house and garage were such a cluttered mess, there would've been droplets all over the place.
4. The key they found had only Avery's DNA, none of Halbach's. Makes no sense.

Len Kachinsky is a doofus, but in the end, he was right...Dassey would have done much less time if he had taken a deal. I know it's VERY hard to do that if you're innocent as I think Dassey is.

Did Zellner have a stroke? She's kind of weird, though pretty smart. Appears to have had a lot of work (plastic surgery etc) done.

One of Avery's lawyers, Jerry Buting, reminds me of the David Wallace character from The Office.

Best parts of Season 2 were the appellate arguments in Chicago, and the fight that Avery, Brendan's mom and her boyfriend had over the phone. It was comedy gold--she and the boyfriend going apeshit and Avery cool as a cucumber.

Why do you think Avery is "creepy"? He seems more stupid and trashy than creepy. I have more than enough reasonable doubt after watching these two seasons. It does not seem like it's enough though.

He admitted to dousing the cat in oil and throwing in on a fire. He wrote some letters to his first wife threatening to kill her (though I think he said he was joking).

I agree there was reasonable doubt per what they showed.

I did not remember the letters or the cat. I do know that country people have no problem shooting feral cats. The fire is certainly extreme. I find him more stupid than malicious though.

so you think dousing a cat in oil and throwing it on a fire to burn alive in horrific pain is "more stupid than malicious"????

Avery talking to friend: Dude, did something really stupid today, you won't believe how dumb it was lol.

Friend: Did you forget to take the cardboard off the bottom of the pizza before putting it in the oven again??

Avery
: lol, no man it was even dumber than that. So dumb, afterwards I was like what the fuck was I thinking?

Friend: Did you do fill your car up with gas and then drive away with the pump still attached to your car? Remember when you did that that one time?

Avery
: lol yea how could I forget that doozy. No dude, this was even dumber than that. Just wait till you hear it, you'll be razzing me about it for years to come. So I'm holding this cat right, and then I just decided to dip it in a vat of 10W40 and just cause I'm such an idiot I figured hey, let's throw this guy on the fire and see if he lands on his feet like they say about cats. LOL how stupid am I???

Couple of things:
How did the ex Bf get pages from her day planer?
Why as usual with missing person believed to be in danger was the FBI or State police not called in? In fact Wis state law was specifically changed in 2013 to make it maditory,no longer an option for locals

the Key found in Averys house was found on the 5 time it was seached, was found by a person who was ordered no to be there and it was her spare key. Who carries their spare with them?

If you read any of the books by ex FBI profilers Hilligas,exBF,shows most of the markers of someone involved by his post crime behaviors.
Hell,he even moved into her apt.

That was another huge red flag. They showed that she had printed the daily calendar sheet from Outlook with some of the day's planned activities already typed in. She then proceeded to write in a few more entries throughout the day based on documented and corroborated phone calls from before she went to Avery's house. There is no way the ex-boyfriend could have obtained that updated sheet by printing it out days later as he claimed (after saying he luckily guessed her Outlook password)....unless of course he got it from her car. Anything he printed out would have been the original without any of her hand-written updates.

It just seems so obviously wrong, unless there's something the show didn't disclose.

He also needlessly lied about the insurance claim.

Even after season one I was convinced that at least Avery had something to do with it. I didn't have an opinion on the kid. This season really
shed a lot of light on why young people admit to crimes they didn't do and it certainly seems that Dassey is in there innocent. The more I watched
the more doubt Avery's lawyer shed on the whole thing. Seems like Wisconsin just doesn't want to re-open this thing and have their web of lies
and deception unraveled. I thought the theory they acted out near the end seemed plausible. Of course after watching 10 hours of this from the
slanted perspective of the defense it is easy to see the holes they are trying to poke in the case. At the end I found myself reasonably doubting
the case that threw these goofs in jail.

If he didn't do it then who did?

I have no doubt in my mind the kid is innocent, but when a chick is last seen alive with you AND her body winds up on your property, buddy you got some splanin' to do.

That is what I thought as well until I watched this season. I still am not sure who really did it but they certainly point the finger at other people in which
the timeline fits a bit better than Avery, and would have had opportunities to put some of the bones on his property to frame him. Not sure if the police
were involved or just did an absolutely shitty job, but there is a case to be made that they helped frame Avery up.

I think Bobby Dassey is a pretty good starting point. He is the only witness that states Steve Avery is the last person to see her alive, and his other brother Bryan Dassey immediately contradicted bobby's testimony at the time. That and the delightful assortment of torture porn they found on his computer indicates he is a sick fuck. It is conceivable he killed this girl and his old man helped him try to pin it on Steve.
