Contreras is the coach killer

Finally someone gets it. I am still hoping the Contreras, Heyward and Almora for Realmutto trade gets done. The pitcher hate pitching to him. He gives them a terrible target, can't frame and has pissed off every umpire. He was also the millennial hitter Chilli was talking about.

Counterpoint: Contreras is 26 years old and good at baseball.

Maybe the Cubs should keep him and try to work on some of the issues.

He sucked for half the season.

Oh, well then just cut him outright. He's terrible.

That's exactly what I said. You tolerate him not handling the pitchers well IF he brings his bat. He's an absolute liability when he doesn't hit.

Nobody should be untradeable. You don't necessarily have to have guys like Bryant or Rizzo "on the trading block", but if somebody is going to give you the keys to the kingdom in exchange for one of those guys, you have to have a discussion about making the move.

Trading Bryant would be too much of a PR hit for the Cubs and unless he is permanently hurt, they would be selling at a terrible low point.

Interesting.

IF they traded him, receive a young starter plus another pitching prospect in return.

Sign Donaldson to man third for a couple of years and go after Trout when he becomes a FA.

They have to know something about him physically. But other teams would know as well. Bryant and his agent just turned down $200 mil from the Cubs.

Maybe that has something to do with it?

Get rid of Bryant to make room for Harper?

If it happens do they think David Bote is the answer?

The more discussion you can have with other teams the better. The Marlins are going to call about KB for Realmuto and Theo is going to be like " no, but we really like that cat. How about taking contreras for him?"

FAKE NEWS

On Rizzo and Bryant

"We've never operated with untouchables," he said. "It sends the wrong message. Given what we're trying to accomplish, it would be virtually impossible to envision the deal that would make sense to move them. I just don't believe in untouchables. Why limit yourself?"

So that means two weeks from now you are going to start a thread asking us what Murph said?

putting Rizzo in the same category as Bryant is ridiculous

Murph's should be interesting today with a lot of good Cubs talk. Julie knows more about baseball than Speigel. And that's not saying a lot

Must listen about Theo and why Ricketts has closed the checkbook plus more.

Aren't the Cubs currently committed to a $~220M payroll for next season if they made no moves and just bring everyone back as they are? Even if it's $200M , how is this closing the checkbook?

Isn't the actual question about how that $200M has been spent?

Rickets has to be irate over Heyward, Darvish, Chatwood signings. Will these blunders slow down new signings of free agents? But,Theo has few other options.

Murph said Rickets is $1Billion in debt due to paying off the new hotel and other investments with Wintrust.

I like Murph, but some of the theories he presents to support his claims are without basis. He speculated that during the off-season, the Zachary hotel might only have two rooms booked on any given night.

I honestly think Murph is still resentful that the Cubs won the WS after tanking. It was an insult to the way he thought it should have went.

100 percent accurate.

He even said on the last show he never liked Theo even when he was hired.

Murph doesn't really like anybody unless they're related to the 69 Cubs.

But as a long time Murph fan, this attitude is expected.

Ignore all the NFL fans that get pissy when baseball talk is still popular in the colder months. Every baseball poster* is a treasure.
