I also work for a large company and I get 15-20 emails a day about a meeting that's being held in Virginia, or some dude's retirement party that's happening at some bar in New York, and the like.

Use the right email list instead of sending to "all!"

We had this happen again a couple months back, but once it got to about 60 or 70, it completely stopped. I assume they put in some sort of mechanism to kill the email chain.

There is an email chain going now and people can't seem to figure out why that our thermostat would be set at 77*, but the thermostat in the Sarasota office is set at 67.

*The heat in our office sucks. To get it anywhere near 70 in here, we have to set it to at least 77 or 78

There is no insulation. This is basically a drywall/plywood office that was hastily assembled in a warehouse, so its very screwry.

Anyway, the email chain got up to about 40 before the COO replied;

"its fucking snowing in chicago. its 70 in tampa. nobody should care about this and if anyone else other than vic [Our IT guy] replies they are fucking fired."

In the past, we had 18 different email servers. So, this year the university decided that everyone should be on one. So we 'migrated' to outlook 365. The default setting for us is 'reply all.' It took 3 hours before a reply all apocalypse to start.

We are undergoing a union entry right now for my group at our plant. Our department leadership approached us prior to the vote and tried to simply provide some information, including the three-year pay raise plan proposal, which has been kept from us in the past. One of my coworkers sent out an email to our group, and cc'd the two individuals in the leadership. Almost immediately, one of the stereotypically gung-ho union guys reply alls us with some quite inappropriate and snarky remarks, including questioning the sincerity of the leaders (our boss' boss and his boss). I saw him today, he's like a puppy hit with the newspaper right now. Know your audience.
