Make the food.
"Last guy is gonna pay."
Ok
Last guy runs out.
Oh, well. Can I help who is next?
Tell your bosses. It's not your stuff. And Chipotle cares more about the publicity than the food. These guys are going to get sick of eating Chipotle. It's Chipotle.

Our system won't generate a ticket to produce food unless payment goes through. The closest we get to this is people ordering food for pickup and not picking it up.

To demonize the worker for simply doing her job. Then, to be stabbed in the back by her corporate bosses. That woman should be compensated 50-100k and free meals for life by the company for throwing her under the bus before knowing the truth. Just another day for the dine and dash guys, and will move on to the next con. Scary if the evidence wouldn't have come out they'd be folk heros to the libs, and theyd be getting compensated.

Don't get into the business of teaching the customers a lesson. That's Chipotle's job.

It's $2 worth of food.
Exactly.

Is there some sort of newsletter that you sign up for where you can get all of these stories of white people being wronged by political correctness because this seems pretty stupid for a national story.

They tried to book Ali on Good Morning America to have him on as a victim of racism. This does provide a peak at how some of these "racist" incidents that get sensationalized really occur. This time Ali was dumb enough to not clean his social feeds bragging about stealing before making this play.

You were the person who had make sure everyone agreed that Roseanne's tweet was really racist and hurtful. Yet this story should not be news. Ok.
How twisted is your logic that fighting "oppression" means that you want people to make and throw out food rather than be an adult, and say since you claimed to have no money last time you now need to pay up front.

The corporation is obviously evil and should be liquidated with the proceeds given to the dine and dash guys and other societal fuck-ups. /s

These aren't franchises. You are a big corporation. You can't have a different system for one guy. I'm sorry. take the order, throw out the food, tell your boss, call the police (AFTER the incident.) Chipotle can evaluate if they should change the policy for everybody.

I never really thought about it but why would a fast food/svc set up a system any other way? It's more of a rhetorical question. It doesn't make sense to make food and then find out the customer doesn't have money or has a stolen credit card or something.

It makes sense if you think you can get people to spend more that way.

Because (I believe) Chipotle is set up where they make the burritos in front of you and as you walk down the make line, you can tell them what sort of veggies, cheeses, sauce, etc you would like them to use. Similar to Subway.

This to me is the definition of insanity. How many times should you do this? Daily? Hourly? It reminds me of the story of JR Smith piling on room service orders just to see if they would still do bring it.

Just assume everyone coming into your store is a corporate spy.

Yay our corporate overlords MIGHT give her the job back. Another example of why "people on twitter" aren't in a vacuum. GMA was ready to run with this. A woman lost her job, just because some sub 80 IQ pirate refugee fuck cried racism.

More sensitivity training is the only answer. These are guys you definitely want hanging around the place and interacting with other customers.

Yeah, you're probably correct that that's the proper way it should be handled. And if you're going to "re-train" the manager, that should be the extent of it rather than some sensitivity bullshit. But from a practical standpoint- and I know you know this from working where the rubber meets the road- it's a pain in the ass to prepare stuff for guys you know don't intend to pay. And I have no doubt that manger knew those guys and it was not some case of mistaken identity where she offended "young well-established African Americans". I'd give her Employee of the Month for knowing the difference between her customers and the people trying to steal from the company.

It's just another example of all the problems that are caused by saying if you are a certain race you are automatically oppressed. These guys got to harass this hapless minimum wage workers, and would have been on national television and likely with a lawsuit in hand if they were not so stupid about bragging about past crimes on social media.

The workers who don't appear to be white btw are in a completely can't win situation. And it appears as if the manager has lost.

I'm surprised at how many people don't think it's a big deal if someone gets falsely and very publicly accused of something terrible, gets fired from their job, and probably has a hard time getting another job as a result.

And isnt she coming out as the winner in all this?

Also, who has said it's not a big deal?

I know how much food and labor cost (thankfully I don't know what a wrongful termination lawsuit runs,) but I know what social media can do. Chipotle has more to lose on one front than the other. Especially Chipotle. Having said that, if these employees are being berated and insulted, then the police or somebody higher up in Chipotle should address this. And they should have cameras in the store.

Not to mention most of these types of workers are living paycheck to paycheck, and struggling to pay the bills. But she should just have to take shit from people who she knows are not going to pay. Ok.

"Its just some kids on college campuses" x 1000

Check out all the stories about it now. The headlines aren't "Woman targeted in racial hoax" its "Chipotle may rehire woman who refused to serve black men"
Talk about burying the lead.

Even when this shit is proven false you hear less than a fraction of the news about it compared to the original.
