1. You can't honestly think that Chipotle wouldn't be able to spot, say, a worker handing out freebies because "they throw out a lot of food"? That's incredibly poor logic, even by your standards. Their loss rate due to dropped or mishandled food is likely very closely watched and approximated, and as such they would be able to spot an unusual amount of food that didn't show up as dollars in the register, such as the ingredients required to make a half dozen or dozen of their burritos. You're like Kramer saying the USPS just writes off any insurance claim on damaged shipping.

Have you ever worked fast food? No it isn't. Food is literally "written off" all the time...into the trash.

I'm not saying they don't throw away food. Use your brain.

The fact that locations are all corporate-owned makes this pretty much a reality.

So let me get this straight. You believe that they fire managers for losing a few burritos and it would not be an acceptable excuse for the manager to say "There is a group of 5 people that come in, order them, and then leave and we have to throw them out"? Chipotle stores average about $2 million in revenue per year. Even if 10 people did it a day we are talking about $18,000 of food losses(if the burrito costs them $5 to make) out of $2 million.

Why is the first instinct of a lot of people to avoid confrontation at all cost? I'm not advocating getting in the face of an armed robber, but it is okay to be a man occasionally and not tuck your tail between your legs. Jesus Christ, this country is turning into a bunch of neutered pussies.

I'm not saying I'm a badass at all - I just don't understand when everyone became these huge vaginas that avoided confrontation at all costs. If someone frequently comes in and doesn't pay for their shit, you would start to get pissed about it. Andthat's okay. Jesus, you're not dead yet.

If it's your stuff I can see getting pissed and standing up for yourself. But it's not worth the hassle when it is over a company's stuff. Especially over burrito.

I completely understand it being annoying but that's pretty much all customer service jobs.

There was a better way to handle this. My guess is next time she handles it differently.

Visit to Chipotle for the next CFMB group outing? Maybe reinstate America so we have a qualified getaway driver?

Fuck yeah! (I mean, once you've conducted sort of an informal straw poll, sort of get a feel where everybody else is on the subject.)

I believe that it is not your place to say that this woman should put her employment in any kind of risk in order to avoid being called a racist. I also believe that repeated food losses are something corporate can and does track, and will at best reprimand a manager for poor loss prevention.

You clearly don't understand the culture of places like this. A corporate-owned store of a publicly-traded company is not going to overlook losses in those amounts, regardless of their revenue. Pennies make pounds, Rick, and pounds make profits.

Mainly, the losses if any will not show as number of burritos or bowls. It’s going to show underperformance to a metric. The manager on site as well as regional manager will do most anything to make their numbers would be my guess.

Chipotle doesn't give a shit about lost ingredients from these six dickheads. They care about the 100 paying customers before them and the 100 customers after them, and crucial to retaining them is that this Minnesota restaurant not turn into the Wild West.

I'm sure they track it but they aren't caring about 5 burritos a day not being converted into sales. It's just not that important.

They are going to try and reduce costs wherever they can but they aren't going to fire or reprimand a manager because over the course of a day they ended up with 550 burritos sold when they except 555 to have been sold especially when it is almost certain that the computer system they use has a button that says "Customer refused to pay".
