People here are such management bootlickers that they would side with this Captain Phillips looking motherfucker

Name names.

Good people on both sides.

No one is siding with management. Everyone saying she should have handled it differently seems to be saying she should have done it differently for her own sake

So the "around minorities never relax" strategy

Having principles is important until it isn't, and then it never was.

You can't get worked up over every perceived slight. No matter how small.

Eventually you just become Julie Dicaro.

It's not worth it. Especially for someone else.

Chipotle certainly was considering they fired the manager and shamed her a a likely racist as soon as the video was posted.

You think fast food workers should act on principle all the time?

They'd be turning away 20% of customers minimum people are assholes.

If it's your stuff I can see getting pissed and standing up for yourself. But it's not worth the hassle when it is over a company's stuff. Especially over burrito.

This is the shit that pisses me off the most. How the fuck are you going to get raises, move from manager to G.M. to area directer etc.. if you don't care about the place you work for.
It is almost impossible to find help as it is and you all are just like why care about the people who give me a opportunity to advance. Start a biz from scratch and see if it is just a fucking burrito.

This is why the country is fucked.

All this could have been avoided if this woman would have just called Chipotle's corporate hotline and asked for direction.

This is true considering that Chipotle is supposedly counting the number of burritos produced and firing managers if they lose too many.

The fact that locations are all corporate-owned makes this pretty much a reality.

So let me get this straight. You believe that they fire managers for losing a few burritos and it would not be an acceptable excuse for the manager to say "There is a group of 5 people that come in, order them, and then leave and we have to throw them out"?

I believe that it is not your place to say that this woman should put her employment in any kind of risk in order to avoid being called a racist. I also believe that repeated food losses are something corporate can and does track, and will at best reprimand a manager for poor loss prevention.

Boilermaker Rick wrote:
Chipotle stores average about $2 million in revenue per year. Even if 10 people did it a day we are talking about $18,000 of food losses(if the burrito costs them $5 to make) out of $2 million.

You clearly don't understand the culture of places like this. A corporate-owned store of a publicly-traded company is not going to overlook losses in those amounts, regardless of their revenue. Pennies make pounds, Rick, and pounds make profits.

Pennies make dollars and dollars make sense!

I think of small businesses differently than corporate chains. As I said earlier, when I worked in retail we were told if someone is stealing something let it go.

I'm sorry you don't agree with that.

Have a blessed day.

The manager did the right thing. She stood up for herself and her company. Frank did it too, and I' rather have one of them work for me than one of you that that's saying just throw it out/who cares/not my money.

Was it worth it?

And re-hired her once they realized they goofed and were probably open to getting sued.

That's so you didn't get shot in the parking lot chasing them down.

To just give shit away is just stupid.

When I was a G.M. at Chili's it got to the point that all anyone had to say was that they didn't like their meal and we had to comp it, that is why we call it complainfield now.

Sure once there was pressure on them they offered the job back. But what was their first response. They threw the employee away like a burrito.

A real burrito.

Not a board burrito.

If you do the right thing, it's always worth it. She is the victim in all this, by the company, by what the media was about to do, and by the guys that were trying to steal from her.

Agreed about her being the victim.

They fired her because of a false narrative of racism. Stop dancing around the real subject all of you are trying to deflect.
