not sure about this move.

I'd think half a Addison is better than a full Torresyes.

This guy is going to love Des Moines. Bote will be the backup shortstop most of the time, and Torreyes will ride the Iowa Shuttle with the relievers and give Baez a day off once in a while.

I doubt Russell gets tendered as a Cub. I think he will go to a team like Seattle that is rebuilding.

Jesse Chavez signs with Rangers for 2y/8m.

Surprised that's too rich for the Cubs. 2 win player as a Cub last year and can start, long relief or be a very valuable bullpen arm.

Not a great sign.

finally, the creeper has returned!

What? You've got the wrong dude.

Improve offense by trading one of the best pinch hitters in the league for cash/PTBNL?

Really beginning to believe their budget/charge this offseason is to shed salary.

How much money was La Stella due to make next season? Are the Angels interested in him for more than a backup/pinch-hitter?

Isn't it possible that the Cubs do have a payroll ceiling and they are close to it? If they want to make moves, they can't just always keep adding, there may need to be some moves needed to increase flexibility?

Theo's hands are tied by his bad free agent signings. Guess he figures he's got to do something to look like he's on top of things.

This.

If he makes a "big" move, it will be a trade.

Still burdened by dead weight, long term contract guys no matter what he does. I'd like to hear what Ricketts & Theo really talk about Theo's moves behind closed doors.

That retard Ricketts should kiss his wife's fat snatch every nite because his stupid ass hired that Jew and his daddy gave him the money to pull it off.

a little surprising, but really, pinch-hitters don't last very long with the same team. 4 years was actually a long time.

to your point, this had nothing to do with how much he makes, or Cub finances in general. I really believe LaStella was one of the ones that Theo referred to who was unhappy with his role (inconsistent to little playing time), and pretty much asked to be traded. Theo did him a favor where he can play more DH now.

Cubs acquired pitcher Kyle Ryan.

Who is Kyle Ryan u ask?

Nobody. Pitched 89 innings over 4 years with the Tigers.

As I said before, theo is scouring the trash heap.

Fuck Kyle Ryan.

You do know that Kyle Ryan was with the Cubs organization all of last year as well, right?

So I think you're the only one who asked who Kyle Ryan is.

They decided that Bote can't play SS for more than an inning or two, and had to pick between Bote and LaStella for the non-SS backup infielder. Trading LaStella is a direct result of Russell being a fuck up.

Both the cubs and addy's statements make it seem like both sides are doing their best to fix this situation and grow from it. He is being punished and its taking steps to improve himself while the Cubs are holding him accountable. What do people like Jules want? Do they want him to never play again or just not with the cubs. If he signs with the Sox then why the hell is that better than with the Cubs? Thankfully the most important decisions people like her make are whether to hit send or not.

Russell is too stupid to grow and learn. By age 23 the dude had knocked up 3 different women. It's not like there aren't agents, GM's, managers telling you "hey....look out for women looking for pay day by getting pregnant."

I've got an idea. Turn back the clock. Don't sign Heyward, Chatwood, Darvish. Don't give up top 3 prospects in organization Eloy, Torres, Cease. Draft quality guys to replenish system, not stiffs. Use old school baseball fundamental principles, with some sabermetrics, to make sound organizational, and in game decisions. Hire a manager who is a plus to the team, not a spaced out hindrance. Now you've got a World Series contender for many years, and a joy to follow.

If you're going to roll back the clock on Heyward, then you also have to take back the Chapman trade, as well as the signings of Zobrist and Montgomery. All GMs have hits and misses.

They won the fucking world series. Yes, Theo's also made some stupid decisions. I sure wish the White Sox had this problem
