Too many "very disturbing details".

https://www.huffingtonpost.com/entry/ru ... 3bf2661c7f

Do these people spend their entire lives looking for things to complain about?

Yeah, it sends mixed messages, and it did confuse me as a kid, but . . . I do think Rudolph handled it well. The other reindeer and even Santa himself ate a lot of crow.

Kind of a gutsy program, though I think some of that gutsiness was on accident. That is, some jag wrote Rudolph and Co. as loser for a plot device, not to bring a voice to the outcasts.

Still, as a kid, my heart nearly beat out of my chest when that "CBS Special Presentation" graphic appeared.

If Rudolph and Herbie were Gen X, they'd have just migrated and found some good weed. Rudy eats it, Herbie rolls it. Man, I sound like Cheap Charlie.

As an outsider, smallest kid in the class with a unique difference, it never dawned on me to do anything but identify with and then love the show. But whose parents didn't/don't see it that way? And why?

Yeah, I loved it. Some of it made me anxious when I was young, but what good story doesn't?
(I still wonder if this was intentional or not, given how stupid the networks were back then.)

Hell, Charlie Brown movies made me even more anxious, but those were and still are my favorite holiday shows. Now that was intentional angst. (By the way, the bio that came out on Schultz 5-10 years ago was exceptional.)

I thought the people were taking the piss out of it much like our own Hank Scorpion does occasionally when watching kids movies.

Didn't seem like anyone was really upset or offended by it.

What children's programming of that era through the eighties wasn't angst ridden to a good degree? Sesame Street? Mr. Rogers?

Next year they should put the scenes with Yukon Cornelius smoking back in and see if people literally die from seeing it.

The roses-are-red stock Twitter form kind of gilds the lily here but the rest is pretty funny.

How about "The Little Drummer Boy"?

Details were kinda sketchy about his parents being randomly murdered. Found that unsettling.

Been watching some 70s Steelers Super Bowl games on YouTube lately as they’ve popped up as suggested watches , and during the Rams / Steelers game , Tom Broookshire described one of the Rams making a tackle out of nowhere “ like an Indian sneaking through the forest “  He’d be fired by halftime in today’s world

On a somewhat related note, the definition of "bullying" has changed in a similar way as the definition of "rape/sexual assault" has. It's obviously a good thing that bullying isn't tolerated, but getting pushed around in a disagreement isn't "bullying". I think that's why we currently have so many appeals to authority and people attempting to get others fired, etc. A lot of people are under the impression that when someone says something they don't like they are being "bullied".

Sexual assault, bullying and racism have lost all reasonable meaning other than whatever the aggrieved party claims to be offended by to gain advantage over someone else. Eric Weinstein talked about how what’s now defined as bullying is vital for bonding on Joe Rogan recently.

I see that Southwest has to apologize to Abcde.

People are just pointing out things you don't notice as a child. This is common in a ton of children's shows and movies. Most of those tweets seem to be appreciating that.

The SJW watch can be cancelled.

I'm not the one telling people not to talk about it. It's not an article. It's a curated collection of Tweets. I was responded to Jorr because I enjoy discussions of language, and I agree that many previously agreed upon definitions of words are now null. It's not an emotional response.

Here is the podcast discussion I cited: https://youtu.be/X9JLij1obHY

I thought the article was funny, since you know, it was posted under their comedy section.

I'm saying that I don't think those tweets were actually being upset about it. It was more pointing out the absurdity of the entire show.

People should talk about it. It's funny. If you actually think this is real outrage then you are way too sensitive.

It is pretty funny thought that this literally is an article that is "a few people on twitter".

I am genuinely pissed about the lack of size 14 basketball shoes and cleats at Dicks for my son. It is pretty tough to find comfortable and solid performing shoes when you can't try them on in person. Especially with basketball players generally being larger guys, why wouldn't they stock that size shoe in stores? FIRST WORLD PROBLEMS.
