They just claimed Clarkin off waivers from the Cubs so he’s back on the 40 man. What the fuck is Hahn doing.

Does Adams fit the criteria of being able to be in the rule 5 draft?

Yes. I was told they think he’ll go unclaimed. We’ll see.

The Braves probably paid a little more to get him on a 1 yr deal but if he has a monster season which is very possible they won’t regret a penny of it.

Great gamble that I wish the Cubs would have made.

The Braves are acting like the Sox of old, paying big money for washed up players.

It's a one year deal on a team loaded with good players still making very little. Very good gamble, imo.

And if he busts out, you're done after this year.

Last year was a lost year, only a 1.2 WAR and missing most of the season, but between 2013 and 2017, he was elite. I think it's a good gamble. Worse case is that his performance continues to decrease and they clear the slate. Best case is that they have a difference maker.

Hope he's using Tiger's doctor over in Germany

Today is the deadline for teams to tender contracts to arbitration eligible players. The Sox have 6 who are arb eligible. I think they will tender all 6 but it won't shock me if one or both of the Garcia's get non-tendered.

Jose Abreu
Avisail Garcia
Carlos Rodon
Matt Davidson
Yolmer Sanchez
Leury Garcia

Yolmer, quietly, had a very nice season last year. He is a lock as well.

You can add Sanchez to the group who will almost certainly be a lock. I don't get the point of wasting another dollar on Matt Davidson. He hits for some power, but can't get on base enough to be a regular player and I don't think of him as a defensive or flexible position player. Even if he can pitch, do it somewhere else, I wouldn't bet on a career change, while in the majors, working out well.

What would Garcia get via arbitration? It's probably too much even for a team with a limited payroll. Even if he has a rebound season, and the Sox want to move him, I still wouldn't pay him several million for a chance at a team''s mid-level prospect.

I would think Garcia would be in the range of $8-$10mill?

There is no need for Palka and Davidson to be on the team together. Keep Palka and get rid of Davidson.

You keep Davidson cause he bats righty and plays 3B. Palka is pretty much their left hitting DH. The Sox really need a thirdbaseman.

Davidson plays 3B like Adam Dunn plays 1B.

Hate to give up on Narvarez though. He had a nice year and is still young.

One of the better hitting catchers in baseball traded for this?

Abso-fucking-lutely stupid.

Navarez doesn't seem to hit lefties too well .159 BA but still got on base at a decent clip against them .339

Yeah, that kind of sucks. But then again, our bullpen was worse than sucky.

On the surface it looks like a horrendous trade for the Sox. Given the FO has earned no benefit of any doubt, I'll go ahead and assume it was indeed as stupid as it appears.

This is not really a reaction to the trade, maybe a little. I really don't care about giving up the catcher, they have a closer now. If they do the exact same thing as this did last year, acquire RPs to flip at the deadline, I am gonna be pissed. We have seen that rodeo, and it tells up, you are another year behind. I am not looking to be .500 just to be .500 or have any type of record in my head they Sox need to hit. Just fucking get better for the long term.
