Why are Wizards/ Cavs always playing each other ? lol

other than that all the east should go to form... I like Boston over Detroit in 7.

in the west... man. If NO beats Dallas i will be surprised. CP is going to get thugged by bigger bodies like Howard and Kidd and as great as hes played this year, i dont see him getting much help from the perimeter here. I'm not saying AJ is a great coach or anything, this just looks like a nighmare matchup for them. West will have to run around the perimeter chasing Dirk, and i don't think Tyson is going to get any slack from the refs, and will be in foul trouble early and often.

I'm like to go with the Suns finally gelling, and dispatching the Spurs as well, but this could go either way.. great matchups all around and Suns achilles' could be i dont see whomever Nash has to guard, be it Parker or Ginobili, i see that guy running down the lane like a trailer park soccer mom on meth in Walmart. Nobody should ever discount the Spurs rugged halfcourt game and playoff tested rotation, but this is going to be a great series. Is Horry still around? where is he?

Lakers should roll to the conference finals against dispatching the Utah/Houston winner rather easily. Utah horrible road record scares me.

amazingly, i see Detroit winning this year should they beat the Celtics. Should the Celts/Pistons come in rested and intact, i think either of those teams could dispatch a weary Lakers/ Spurs...

I would take a healthy Spurs team over either Detroit or Boston in the finals

However, should the Lakers emerge, i'd be inclined to take either east team to beat them.

Some things I'll be looking for this weekend...

1.) How good is Washington with Arenas back? I could see them beating Cleveland and giving Boston a good series, or I could see them losing in 5 games to the Cavs. My guy Tough Juice is gonna need to show up.

2.) How good is Orlando? If they take care of an underachieving Raps team how will they do against the Pistons? How will Dwight Howard do in the "real" season?

3.) I think the Rockets will miss Skip to my Lou more than most think. He's a solid starting PG and a good catch and shoot 3 point shooter. I would give Houston a puncher's chance against Utah given that they have home court advantage, but I think they need to win the first 2 games to have a chance.

4.) The Spurs/Suns series. Everything about this says 7 games. The winner will most likely go to the Western Finals. Like most, Im looking forward to this series more than any other opening round series.

5.) Can the Sixers push the ball and get easy hoops against the Pistons? Their style could cause the Pistons fits if executed. I have a feeling Detroit will be able to dictate the tempo better. If Detroit is focused and hungry the series shouldnt go more than 5.

1.) Arenas hasnt done shit except for some decent shooting in Game 1.

2.) Orlando is very good. They took care of business better than any East team. If Dwight Howard is on his game, they can beat anyone. They still dont have anyone to defend Chauncey, and Rip should kill them off screens, but I can see them beating Detroit.... If Detroit survives Philly.

3.) Houston did miss Rafer as much as I anticipated, despite getting very solid PG play offensively in game 2. With Alston back, and Landry, Battier, Scola playing at a high level, this team is almost on Utah's level. I think they win tonight.

4.) A very, very weird series. I now feel even more strongly than San Antonio is the best in the West and will go to the Finals. Im regretting picking them to lose to Boston. I dont think I would pick any player in the league over Tim Duncan to win a 7 game series.

5.) Yes they can. Philly vs. Detroit has been a very exciting series. Im pretty sure Philly takes Game 6 and this goes 7. If Detroit loses next game, they are done in 6 I think.

 Billy King is gone Zach... you can open your eyes now. I would be a little concerned about Iggy's struggles, but I definitely think the Sixers can win the series. I dont think they will, but I do think its going 7.

well, they don't have to win the series to show me that they've already made gigantic steps forward, and i'm hoping they don't suffer what the bulls did the next few years after making their seemingly gigantic steps forward...

i love that they've taken two from detroit but i still say they had to win game 4 and go up 3-1 going into detroit, and they blew it--but they blew it because they're young, and i think they'll learn from that.

ig'll be okay, he is learning. he's getting defended well, but he'll learn.

Well tonights game looks lost. Detroit never ceases to amaze me. Its all been downhill for them since 2004. They only win when feeling pressure. They knew this was a must win game for them. Look for them to choke away game 6.

they will easily win the next game...sixers are gassed. but they at least made it a fight, and i'm hoping that detroit doesn't make it any farther after this series.

their attitude sickens me.

You might be right, I still say the Sixers win next game. Im with you on rooting against them from now on. I hoping the East would win the title back, thinking the C's were the best team and Detroit was the third or fourth best team. The way they have struggled and SA and LA have rolled so far, Im not so sure. I thought for sure we would have a very competitive finals for the first time since 2003, but Im not sure anymore.

well we'll see, i agree the east is pummeling themselves while there are teams in the west that are coming in fresh--i wouldn't count out the east yet.

i'm looking forward to the second round, even if my sixers are out of it.

and i'm definitely on the NO bandwagon. how could i not be?

Very nice.

Right now the East is pummeling eachother and the West is rolling, like you said, but that will change. I dont think the Lakers or Spurs will be very fresh going into the Finals, if indeed that is the West Finals like I expect and predicted. The winner of that series is going to be beat up for sure.

I dont know what to say of the East. The Celtics definitely seem like the best team, but they are one of the most unique teams I have ever heard of in NBA history. They were the best team in the NBA from Day 1 to the last day of the season, but they were put together this offseason. I dont recall a team that has dominated the way they have getting 6 of their top 9 guys in less than 12 months. They were basically just put together before the season. I dont know if a team can do that and win the title the same year. I dont even remember seeing the theory tested. I thought they were clearly the best team going in, but if I had to guess right now I wouldnt be positive they even make it to the Finals, and I would predict the Spurs to win it all. It'll be an interesting playoffs for sure.

a lot of people (rightfully) questioned the depth on the celtics as being a concern even when the acquisitions were made...

there's definitely cause for concern for the celtics...but think about this...

as much as most people have been jawing about how boston fans have had it so great--just think if the celtics make it to the finals and LOSE? that'll be TWO franchises that are colossal disappointments after having such great regular seasons in THE SAME YEAR...

you'd just have to ask them..."so was it worth seeing the red sox win it twice in the last 4 years?"

Im guessing they would definitely say yes.

As for the Celtics depth, I definitely thought they were overrated and thought their depth was terrible in the preseason, but over the regular season they turned out to be one of the deepest teams in the league. Rondo developed into one of the best young PG's in the league. His shot is questionable, but he can literally do everything else and is one of the best defenders in the league. I can easily see him being a top tier PG for the next decade. Big Baby ended up being a fantastic rotation player, someone who would earn PT on any contender in the playoffs this season. Ditto for Leon Powe. James Posey is their best perimeter defender and maybe their 4th most indispensable guy(one could make an argument he is 3rd and more indispensable then Allen). Their depth hasnt been the problem this series. To me, its mostly Doc fucking up, and KG's forever looming reputation of not being a go to guy. He refuses to just say "Fuck it, Im taking this game over and theres absolutely nothing they can do about" ala Duncan in Game 1 against the Suns. He has the talent do so, but not the mindset. I think right now they have as much depth as anyone, but they definitely need to make defensive adjustments(If Joe Johnson can look like MJ against them, what will Kobe do?), and KG needs to start playing a little more like Duncan.

well yeah, again the team can play well, but it's up to the star to take over. it's not like KG hasn't had his chances in the playoffs either--i've always thought of him as a number #2 guy; that's why i thought, man if the lakers ever get garnett it's over...

I dont know thogh, Im not sold on Boston winning the title, but I think they have as good as achance as anyat this point and time. Pistons, Cltics, Lakers, and Spers are the 4 best teams in the league right now. Its gonbana be a hellaava series in the final four.

I dont think so either Kid but they can. They played Detroit well in the regular season and although they seem to be a different team now, winning is winning and they have gotten it done so far in the playoffs, although its tougher than I woulda thought.

14-1 when predicting NBA playoff series isnt bad, although admittedly I didnt think Boston would win going into the Finals. OK, last Button 48 NBA moment from me till next year.
