So my mom just gave me the box of my Lionel trains. Well, one train and a few cars and some track. I wish I had bought my uncle’s collection when I had the chance.

Football II was better. You could pass.

I was a Statis-Pro Baseball guy. Not Strat-O-Matic - that was more popular but not nearly as good. Statis let you make your own players if some Rookie had come up that year and you wanted to add them to the game.

I used to track the box scores and calculate year-long statistics in my notebooks (spreadsheets didn't exist back then). Good clean fun.

Colecovision football was great.

I kept my ship-shape for my sons and even bought new track and some new engines and cars....and they don't care. If it's not a video game, forget it. Anyway, it's still fun to put around the tree. My original train is 43 years old and still runs.

The blinking players in Intellivision Football is probably the leading cause of Epilepsy in America today.

I had a great Lionel "O" gauge layout complete with two engines from the 40s. Each engine was probably worth a couple grand. My mom sold the whole thing for about $200 to a hobby shop on Milwaukee Avenue. I'm sure a lot of guys have stories like that. I didn't really care that my mom sold the stuff. It was just upsetting that I knew exactly what it was worth and she never asked me about it. It was just like, "I didn't want that crap in the basement anymore."

Ours were pretty simple basic trains (Brother and I) but my uncle was a carpenter and a train crazed guy and we were his youngest nephews and pre grand children and he spoiled us with a very nice track setup and tables. More than we needed for sure. IT was pretty cool though. Had a friend whose dad had a huge setup in the basement and did the plaster mountains and little towns and such. His system was crazy but I don't think he and the wife got along too well so he spent a lot of time down in the basement with that train and reloading shotgun shells for the skeet club he belonged too.

Shortly before my grandfather passed he gave my Dad the trains he brought back from Germany after the war. I talked a bit to a train guy about them and they are either worth a small fortune or not much at all. When I told Dad he said he didn't want to know because he didn't want to be tempted to sell them just yet.
