Very sad that the bears and their fans finished what Katrina started that year.

I briefly became a Colts fan. And it paid off for the two weeks. :D :D

It doesn't count if you saw it on TV. Witnessed means storm that you saw in person.

And away we go...

When I was a kid,
a tornado hit
our neighbor's garage.

It jumped the garage
and took out the half
of the garage between it
and then jumped,
the house was unharmed.

They just boarded up
the half of the garage
and the rest of my growing up
we'd drive by and see
their half-garage and I was
always reminded

of that tornado. Didn't hit
our place at all.

Some minor revisions.

The one with the buses filled with snow on LSD? That was 2011, was living in Chicago at the time. Made it to work on the Brown Line that morning. I walked down the middle of every street from Washington and Wells to work. Zero cars or people on the road.

Granted I was still wasted from the night before, but it was a sight to behold, the whole loop devoid of humanity.

Driving from California to Chicago with my two sons 17 and 7 and a friend. Took the northern route through South Dakota and Minnesota and was chased by a terrible storm and tornado. The lightening was horrifying and listening to the radio, the tornado was very close. You literally couldn't see anything so I followed a semi-trailer along the interstate. Watched a small truck pass us at maybe 60 MPH. I finally pulled off the road and drove into a culvert alongside a rest stop. It was hailing hard at the time. All this time, the three kids were having the time of their lives and I was scared shitless.

When the tornado and storm passed we got back on the high way and pulled off at the next exit with services. While there the road side people had pulled the people in that small pick-up out of a ditch and treated a teenage girl for injuries suffered when the truck went off the road. They were very lucky.

You should be less afraid of storms, and more afraid of actuarial tables.

Hurricane Francis when I lived in northern FL 2004 or the 2010 Northern IL blizzard.

It still was devoid of humanity when you arrived.

there was a storm in the middle of 88 somewhere in illinois or iowa. I remember it was very windy and all the big rigs were blown on their sides. countless ones. maybe like 25 years ago or something.

What I remember most about that storm is that the snow fell in like 3 hours.

Went to the bar at like 10, no snow, left at 2, fucking snow Armageddon.

It was called Snowzilla, the Snowpocalyspe, and Snowmageddon. If you were in Chicago, you will never forget the Groundhog Day Blizzard. It began on February 1 and lasted through February 2, 2011.

Chicago experienced as much as two feet of snow and blizzard conditions, with winds of over 60 mph. The official record at O'Hare Airport was 21.2 inches of snow, the third largest snowstorm in Chicago history.

An ex, who lived on Marine Drive, sent me some crazy pictures. Her pics of LSD were pretty impressive too.

Not just the people abandoning their cars but I remember a CTA bus getting trapped. The people hunkered down at first but then abandoned it on foot.

Hurricane Sandy. I still remember watching the glass on our sliding door moving back and forth like it had waves and how loud the wind was. I'll take any snowstorm over going through that again. I can stay home and watch tv and look at the pretty snow. It is a little harder when it sounds like a train is destroying trees in the backyard and then no power for days and hours long lines for gas.
