FF is wise. Sometimes, an ice cold Miller High Life scrathes right where I itch.

But a better question is why is your vagina itchy?

lots of bad takes in this thread.
Liquor is wonderful. Beer is wonderful. Some beer is more wonderful than others....doesn't mean PBR and Miller Lite don't have a place. They're perfect for day-drinking marathons.

I rarely drank beer in the US until 5-6 years ago. I didn't like the taste of the macrobrews, and I'd rather drink bourbon or Crown Royal. I liked cream stouts but drinking a whole one was not my thing.

Eventually i found out that I enjoy low IBU wheat beers, Kolsches, Weisses, and similar concoctions. Stuff like Allagash White. And lots of microbreweries would let me finish off with a 4 oz. of their nitro stout or something similar.

Now my drinking, while still not particularly high and rarely alone at home, is probably 40% bourbon, 40% microbrews, and 20% wine with dinner out.

Nice humble brag about rarely drinking beer in the US

I watched a Bears game at the bar yesterday for the first time in years. I met my old neighbor over there who I hadn't hung out with for about
6 years. Anyway it was interesting to me to see the differences in our tastes. I ended up having 3 IPAs over the course of the game and he
had 5-6 Bud Lights. Probably a combination of the fact that I have changed the way that I drink and that my beer was a bit stronger, but in
the long run I prefer drinking a little bit stronger, more flavorful beer rather than twice as many watered down ones. Everyone has their own
tastes so in the end drink what you like, just found it interesting.

There's a good number of sessionable craft IPAs (around 6% ABV or less) on the market.

Not all craft beer is overhyped, but every craft beer I've ever tried tastes a lot better than shitty macrobrews.

I would say there is quality out there for sure. I generally do not choose the overly fruity stuff and never chocolate craziness. I also prefer an IPA to be understated. At times I think some brewers seem to act as if it is a contest to see how much hoppiness they can cram in and the result smells and tastes something like I imagine cat piss would.

In the end for a higher lever beer I prefer a German style lager or Hefeweissen over anything, if not having some Miller Lite.

There is a large contingent of people with disposable income who enjoy being connoisseurs of something or other. Makes drinking less boring I guess. Relatively harmless. Millercoors will be fine.

Exactly. There are also craft beers that compete directly with the standard American brands that are superior. Solid Gold from Founders is one example.

Variety is good too. Even if you love McDonalds is that all you want to eat? Why do the same with beer?

if anything it's made beer more creative. some friends of mine have become quite the brewmasters and they're starting to experiment with flavors. the ones that work have been outstanding.

I don't drink craft beer because I can't stand IPAs. I guess I should check out some others, but IPAs really seem to be the darling of craft beer.

The craft brew lagers and pilsners are more flavorful for sure than the macros. I try to keep some around for those that hate IPA’s. I’m not huge into IPA’s but enjoy a few and often try new ones but sometimes they are just too hoppy in all the wrong ways.

My trip back into beer involved Belgians, porters and Germans with IPA’s being a slow developing taste. I’m mostly a cocktail or straight bourbon drinker these days though but have cut back a bit.

We have six drafts at the restaurant, and, just due to the timing of various kegs blowing, we have four IPA's right now. But it's not like it's four Antihero's. There is more distinction these days, probably owing to IPA fatigue.

Antihero was first ipa I could stomach.

IPAs are by far the most popular but I think a lot of people did get fatigued by them and the breweries have done a good job with other stuff.

It obviously depends on where you live but the best thing you can do is go into a liquor store and ask for a few recommendations on the style of beer you normally like. I've gone into binny's a few times and said "Hey, you can you recommend a good lager or pilser for me to take to a party?". If I have learned anything, guys who work at beer stores love to give recommendations on beer to drink.

the craft beer phenomenon has resulted in a whole class of pretentious beer snob hipsters. Nomination rejected. It's just beer.

Agreed. I don't drink, but I think it's cool that the beer world has expanded the way it has. I understand why people would get into it.

How many craft beers did you consume prior to authoring this post?
