Another thing we have recently implemented on Xmas day (with my wife's side) is an ugly ornament exchange. We have it set up where you can steal or whatever...there are hundreds of ways to do a grab bag. We only do presents for the kids now, but for us adults it cool to have something fun to do, and this is perfect. Inevitably there is at least one ornament that is actually pretty cool or that somebody desperately wants so it gets stolen or passed around 2 or 3 different times. There are terrible ugly ones too that just get laughed at. As long as its not an ornament with sentimental value, this is great fun.

I'm not the problem, it's his brother. I think he's mentally ill in all honesty. My husband's house would be a lot cleaner if he'd have found a nice polish girl.

If you spent any time talking to my husband's family you'd be begging for a craft or you might start cleaning, you know, being Polish and all.

She's not famous yet. It wouldn't surprise me if she got there, but she'll need some luck. There are thousands of other cute girls with great voices living in New York and waiting tables.

My off-the-boat Dad and his siblings and cousins here could sit in the living room and round-robin Irish songs pretty well. It ramped up considerably when the Old Country Irish would visit.

That sounds cool . . . though some of them songs, man. Christ, some of them are depressing.

They are from the west, so a lot of Gaelic. Still depressing, but sounds more like Klingon Delta Blues.

Not necessarily a bad plan, considering that at least one guest, per Spaulding's description, is mentally ill, or might as well be. Ain't no one in here ever been in the loony bin for a week or two? They do crafts on Wednesday mornings, when you are high as shit on triceratopszine. Every time you go in there, you come home with brown bottles of medicine and Crayola-and-paper approximations of stained glass windows.

My uncle always said that a song wasn't Irish unless it included drinking and fighting.

Grief and longing, which leads to those other two.

I would if I could. I want nothing to do with my husband's brother or really his mother. The less involved they are in anything the better off we tend to be as a family. BUT, it's my husband's brother and his mother and I can't make that decision. It's not right. He can though and I'm kinda hoping he's close. We can't sustain the way things are now.

At this one holiday party (its a few weeks before christmas with about 50 people from like 5 extended families) they play craps and it's a fuckin blast.

Also a 75 year old man dresses as an Elf and goes around pouring shots of Jager all night.

No, nobody really does. He's an asshole that has been allowed to run or manipulate his family for the better part of 25 years. Nobody can say anything because his mom would lose her shit. Tell you what, I'll send them over to you. Merry Christmas.

Last year we decorated gingerbread houses that went pretty well.

Scategories is a fun game for that all ages can play together. Goes over very well at our Thanksgivings over the years.

we also play poker every T-Giving.
